As per a latest report from Bloomberg, the company planning a new tactic under which it would publicly “shame” device makers and carriers who are laid back in pushing latest Android software updates.

Google shows LG smartwatch and JBL speakers with Project Soli radar-based gesture control

Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) division announced Project Soli, a radar-based gesture control technology at the I/O developer conference last year. Last year’s development kit was huge to use it in smaller devices such as smartwatches. So Google’s ATAP team with Infineon redesigned the chip to make it 3 times smaller and also reduce power consumption by 22 times, down from 1.2W to 0.054W. The footprint is now also 3x smaller.

Google Project Ara Developer Edition coming in Q4 2016, consumer version in 2017

Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects division (ATAP) announced at the Google I/O that it will release the developer version of the  Project Ara modular smartphone in the fall of 2016. This will replace the Spiral 2 dev kit that was showcased last year. The consumer version of the Project Ara is further delayed and will only be available in 2017.
