Google Play Services will stop supporting Android Gingerbread and Honeycomb in early 2017

Google has announced that is is discontinuing support for Gingerbread and Honeycomb in Google Play services. Version 10.0.0 of the Google Play services client libraries, as well as the Firebase client libraries for Android, will be the last version of these libraries that support Android API level 9 (Android 2.3, Gingerbread).

Google invests $3.4 million in Montreal AI Research

Google has invested $4.5 million CAD ($3.4 million USD) in AI research in Montreal’s Institute for Learning Algorithm (MILA). The funds will pay for seven faculty members across the institute, as well as MILA faculty at the University of Montreal and McGill University.
