The Pebble app store for iOS was released last month, and a beta version of the Android app was introduced alongside. Azoi, a US-based technology company has launched Wello, a smartphone case, that is also a health monitoring device. It fits into a smartphone, and can measure heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, electrocardiography (ECG), blood oxygenation, lung functions and more. It can pass on gathered information to the Wello app, available for both iOS and Android. It also provides safe and secure remote access, so it can also be used to track the key vitals of family members, says Azoi. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 Neo along with the Gear 2 at the MWC 2014. The Gear 2 Neo is a cheaper version of the Gear 2 with plastic build and also lacks the camera. It has a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by Tizen OS. It is 10.0 mm thick, similar to the Gear 2, but weighs 55 grams, about 13 grams lighter than the Gear 2. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 at the MWC 2014 earlier this week. It is the successor of the first Galaxy Gear, that was introduced at the IFA 2013. Unlike the first Android-based Galaxy Gear, this one runs on Tizen OS, optimized for wearable devices, hence it is much faster in terms of navigation. The Gear 2 has the same 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display that we had seen on the Gear, but the processor has been improved. Samsung introduced the Gear Fit, the company’s first wearable fitness band earlier this week at the MWC 2014. We got to check out the device at the event. Unlike the Gear watch series with a square screen, this has a wide 1.84-inch (432 x 128 pixels) Curved Super AMOLED display. The display is bright and the navigation is a smooth. Just like the Gear watch, this one has a Pedometer, Heart Rate sensor, Accelerometer and Gyro sensors. You can remove the Gear Fit unit easily to change the strap. Check out the hands-on video below. SanDisk Corporation has announced the company’s new 128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I (Class 10) memory card for smartphones and tablets at the MWC 2014. This is the world’s largest capacity microSD card for smart devices. The first 128MB micro SD card was launched in 2004, it took just 10 years to bring memory capacity of 128GB. Huawei is announcing a lot of products at the MWC 2014 event and one among them is the new and innovative Huawei TalkBand B1. Huawei’s TalkBand B1 is a smart watch that comes with a flexible display and comes with wireless calling facilities. It wasn’t too long ago that Samsung announced its first generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Aimed at competing with the likes of Pebble and anticipated competition from Apple, the original Galaxy Gear was a relative failure because of its high price point, poor battery life and limited compatibility. Fast forward five months and Samsung is all set to show off its next gen Gear 2 smartwatch that eschews Android for the Korean company’s homegrown Tizen OS.
The new smartwatch will retail in two variants ie the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. The Galaxy branding has been dropped because of the transition from Android to Tizen. Specifications of the watch remain largely the same and include a 1GHz dual core processor, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM and a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED touch screen. The watch also incorporates S Voice, a heart rate monitor, pedometer for health related applications. It also has IP67 certification for water, dust resistance. Among many things that will be introduced in the next week at MWC 2014, Oral-B, a toothbrush manufacturer, has announced the world’s first BlueTooth connected electronic toothbrush as a part of Smart Connected Bathroom. The new innovative Bluetooth toothbrush will be showcased at the upcoming MWC 2014 and we will be surely bringing a hands on video right from the show floor.
