In addition, the ring can even work with other devices including home automation systems. As per the patent filing, a smartphone recognizes the smart ring which is equipped with sensors and then displays a contextual aware menu corresponding to the functions that are pre-set in the smart ring. It is believed that the sensors in the ring will help it control some functions by simply touching it. Considering the patent diagram, the contextual menu displayed on the smartphone could include icons for a TV, radio, the blinds, living room lights and other connected devices in a smart home.

Moving on, the patents says that the smart ring accessory could go a step further and work with social networks like Facebook. Samsung is not the first company to patent a smart ring, as other tech giants like Apple, Microsoft and Google have patents related to smart rings.
