Pushbullet for Android adds the ability to reply to WhatsApp, Hangouts and more via PC

Pushbullet for Android has received an updated that lets users reply to popular messaging apps directly from PC. The service now adds support for WhatsApp, Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, Telegram and LINE messenger.

WhatsApp voice calling feature rolling out on some Android devices

WhatsApp Mesenger’s much anticipated voice calling feature is rolling to Android devices. A Reddit user Pradnesh Patil (pradnesh07) posted screenshots and a video of WhatsApp’s new interface that features voice calling.

Whatsapp comes to PC via the browser, no support for the iPhone app yet

Whatsapp, the world’s most popular instant messaging platform, now comes to the PC, via the web browser route. The web client, which currently works only on Google’s Chrome, will let you chat with your friends right from the comforts of a browser, a long standing request finally fulfilled by the company. The functionality currently works on the updated version of Whatsapp on Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry devices, while iPhones are not getting the feature due to “platform limitations”, according to Whatsapp chief Jan Koum.

UK PM wants to ban WhatsApp, Snapchat, iMessage and others

Following on from the devastating terror attacks in Paris over the past week, the UK Prime Minister David Cameron has announced he could move to block encrypted messaging applications if he wins the next elections. In essence, this means that apps such as WhatsApp, iMessage or Snapchat that offer “methods of communication that cannot be read by security services even if they have a warrant” could be targetted. WhatsApp hits 700 million users, adds 100 million new users in four months

WhatsApp messenger is continuing to multiply the user base and the popular messenger now has 700 million monthly active users. 250 million more users have been added since February 2014, when Facebook announced plans to buy WhatsApp for $19 billion.

WhatsApp allows users to turn off blue tick option in latest update

Last week, WhatsApp introduced a new feature where two blue ticks confirmed that a WhatsApp message has been read by the recipient. Today, the app has added a new option that allows users to disable the feature.

WhatsApp Voice calling feature has been delayed till next year, according to WhatsApp CEO, Jan Koum. Speaking at the Re/Code’s Code/Mobile conference, Koum said that the launch of the feature has been delayed till Q1 of 2015.

Facebook’s WhatsApp acquisition completed at $22 billion

Facebook has completed its WhatsApp acquisition for a whopping $22 billion which was originally announced at $19 billion in February. The acquisition cost has increased by $3 billion because of the increased value of Facebook’s stock in recent months.

WhatsApp Messenger for iPhone gets chat archives, photo captions and more

WhatsApp Messenger had added a slew of feature for iPhone for a better chatting experience. Firstly, the app adds the ability to archive chats and groups. They can be archived by simply swiping horizontally in the chats section and selecting the More and Archive option.
