Facebook has completed its WhatsApp acquisition for a whopping $22 billion which was originally announced at $19 billion in February. The acquisition cost has increased by $3 billion because of the increased value of Facebook’s stock in recent months.

WhatsApps was suddenly removed from the Windows Phone Store due to technical issues and the WhatsApp team said that they are working with Microsoft to resolve the issues and bring it back shortly. The app did not return to the store even after a week, leaving Windows Phone users frustrated, since this is the only way to download the app for the platform. Few hours back the apps has returned to the Windows Phone Store and it has also been updated with new features.
WhatsApp has been temporarily pulled down from Windows Phone Store due to some technical issues. A search for the app on Windows phone store now simply says, “The app is no longer published.”

WhatsApp is the current leader in the instant messaging app market with over 500 million monthly active users globally. In April WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum also touted that the service has over 48 million monthly active users in India.The cross platform app which was acquired by Facebook in February this year, has joined hands with Airtel to provide special data packs.
Whatsapp, the massively popular instant messaging application, was recently acquired by Facebook for a huge sum of 19 billion dollars. The deal has not even closed, but troubles already seem to be starting to pile up for the company, starting with this – Iran, officially known as the Islamic Republic of Iran, has censored Whatsapp in its country, citing “Zionist” Zuckerberg as the reason for the ban.

Today, the popular Japanese platform has unveiled Sticons which is a merger of stickers and emoticons. It’s always fascinating to see the growth of a communications platform. The mobile phone grew worldwide thanks to a company called Nokia that connected people with calls and SMS as the medium, but in this age of apps and Smartphones, it’s Whatsapp that’s doing all the connecting. We have been watching its explosive growth over the course of two years, and it has been really interesting. Today, the company’s blog has announced that the service has crossed a whopping 400 million monthly active users, with almost a quarter of them – 100 million added in the last four months. This is seen as a huge growth for a space, in which there is suddenly a lot of competition, with some of them even willing to shell out big bucks for TV promotions and so on. However, it remains to be seen if people embrace choice or go for ubiquity.
