TSMC said to remain as exclusive supplier of Apple ‘A13’ chips for 2019 iPhones

According to industry analysts, TSMC said to remain as Apple’s contract chip maker next year, as the exclusive supplier of “A13” chips for 2019 iPhones. TSMC has been Apple’s exclusive supplier of A-series chips since 2016. It also remains a partner for A10 and A11 Bionic chip for iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 series, and iPhone X. Apple Store in Amsterdam evacuated reportedly due to iPad battery explosion

According to reports, the Apple Store at Leidseplein in Amsterdam has been briefly evacuated earlier today likely after an iPad exploded due to battery overheating. Furthermore, three people reportedly suffered breathing problem, possibly due to vapors from a leaking battery. However, they were treated on site.

Worldwide tablet shipments declined 13.5% in Q2 2018, Apple and Samsung continue to lead: IDC

According to IDC, worldwide tablet market declined 13.5% in Q2 2018 as global shipments fell to 33 million. Slate tablets accounted for the majority of the market with 28.4 million units, which is down 14.5% from the previous year. On the other hand, the detachable tablets also declined during the quarter largely due to the high-profile product launches in the Q2 of 2017 and the absence of timely updates to those products in 2Q18.
