The backplane technology is responsible for turning individual pixels on and off and it plays a significant role in determining a display’s resolution, refresh rate, and power consumption. TSMC said to remain as exclusive supplier of Apple ‘A13’ chips for 2019 iPhones

According to industry analysts, TSMC said to remain as Apple’s contract chip maker next year, as the exclusive supplier of “A13” chips for 2019 iPhones. TSMC has been Apple’s exclusive supplier of A-series chips since 2016. It also remains a partner for A10 and A11 Bionic chip for iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 series, and iPhone X. Apple said to be planning on opening flagship outlets in key locations in India to drive sales

With Apple plans to open its own Stores in India pending due to government’s approval, the company is seeking to open biggest franchisee outlets at key locations in metropolitan cities in India. According to a latest report, the 5-6 franchisee-run outlets will each be at least three times larger than the current, 1,000-square foot stores and may even go up to 5,000 square foot. Apple Store in Amsterdam evacuated reportedly due to iPad battery explosion

According to reports, the Apple Store at Leidseplein in Amsterdam has been briefly evacuated earlier today likely after an iPad exploded due to battery overheating. Furthermore, three people reportedly suffered breathing problem, possibly due to vapors from a leaking battery. However, they were treated on site.

Apple hit with $145 million fine over WiLan patent infringement

Apple is fined $145 million by the jury in San Diego over infringing two WiLan patents relating to wireless communications technology, WiLan, a unit of Quarterhill Inc. Apple, on the other hand, confirmed that it plans to appeal. The company earlier rejected claims of infringement in pre-trial filings. Worldwide tablet shipments declined 13.5% in Q2 2018, Apple and Samsung continue to lead: IDC

According to IDC, worldwide tablet market declined 13.5% in Q2 2018 as global shipments fell to 33 million. Slate tablets accounted for the majority of the market with 28.4 million units, which is down 14.5% from the previous year. On the other hand, the detachable tablets also declined during the quarter largely due to the high-profile product launches in the Q2 of 2017 and the absence of timely updates to those products in 2Q18. Apple surpasses $1 trillion market cap, CEO Tim Cook thanks employees
