Nokia moves device assembly to factories in Asia to improve time to market


Handset maker Nokia is moving its device assembly to it’s factories in Asia in a strategic move to improve time to market for it’s products. The 3 factories Komarom, Hungary, Reynosa, Mexico and Salo, Finland will no longer assemble devices but will only offer smartphone product customization aimed at customers in Europe and the Americas.Such a move is not surprising as a major portion of all electronic goods are manufactured in Asia due to lower costs and close proximity to component suppliers. LG teases Optimus Vu Android smartphone with 5-inch display and 4:3 aspect ratio

LG has posted a teaser video of their new Android Smartphone, Optimus Vu that would come with  a 5-inch display with 4:3 aspect ratio. This would have 1024 x 768 pixels IPS display and powered by 1.5GHz dual-core processor according to Datacider. It would run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Motorola DROID 4 coming to Verizon on February 10 for $199.99


Motorola announced the DROID 4 last month for Verizon. The release date leaked earlier this week, and now Motorola has officially announced that the device would be available starting February 10 from Verizon Wireless. The Motorola DROID 4 comes with 4.0-inch qHD (940 x 540 pixels) display, five-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard and is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and has 8-megapixel HD rear camera with 1080p and 1.3-megapixel HD front-facing camera with 720p. Google launches Chrome for Android Beta for Android 4.0 devices

Tulip Telecom Builds World’s 3rd Largest Datacenter

Indian telecommunications service provider , Tulip Telecom , launched Asia’s largest data center on Monday. The datacenter which is the 3rd largest in the world is spread over an area of 9,00,000 sq ft.

The data center has been build to gold international green building standards and meets Tier 3 and Tier 4 specifications. The internet connectivity is via fibre and relies on multiple ISPs. The datacenter requires 100 megawatts of power at peak output during full operations.

The datacenter will play host to a variety of cloud and networking services. Approximately 30% of the server rack space has already been allocated with HP being a major customer . 100% allocation is being aimed for within 3 years. IBM will be a strategic partner with Tulip offering its data center and SmartCloud infrastructure services which will support Tulip in dramatically extending its existing offerings to quickly meet customer demand.

Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet to get ICS in spring

Lenovo introduced one of the most well built and feature packed Android tablets last year based on the Honeycomb operating system.
