No rattling sounds from the body. Its so firmly packed and its feels great to use it though its slightly huge. The body is in plastic but it does not look cheap , its actually a good fit in the palm. The phone weighs about 114g and is pretty decent when you take into account the features of the phone. Display is a 240×320 screen with 16 million colors. Its usable in most places even in the Sun.

Geotagging in simple words is relating the photo with the place at which it was taken.

Coming soon , Nokia OSeries phones bbye NSeries

After Nokia’s recent acquisition of Trolltech and seeing from the loads of in house Open source initiatives seems like Nokia wants to get out a Open Source handset Series . We call it OSeries

nokia-n95-linux.jpgIt might sound funny but when we learnt abcd its its O after N…

Jokes apart .. Nokia  might be working on a Linux / OS handset lineup  .. Symbian has still a low adoption rate and its got a huge learning curve. Theres a huge Java developer community out there. Android handsets are expected to hit the market by mid 2008. So the Finnish handset maker might want to get some part of the Open Source / Linux handset market for sure..

For now this whole  OSeries things seems like a rumor but its closer to becoming a reality after their recent buy.

Nokia buys open source greenphone maker Trolltech

The news is out Nokia buys yet another company. This time Nokia is buying a Norwegian Linux mobile developer firm Trolltech

Trolltech are the makers of the Greephone

The Finnish giant seems to be embracing the Qt or Qtopia mobile platform as Russ points out. Its seen as a move by the worlds largest handset maker to expand its software and internet based services.

Dr Kai Öistämö, the head of Nokia’s devices unit, said the acquisition would aid Nokia in its strategies of being “a leader of the converged world in internet mobility” and “growing consumer services and businesses solutions”.

Operators must provide hard copy of bills to postpaid subscribers for free says TRAI

All mobile operators in India are trying to save money by not sending hard copy of bills to Subscribers.

Telecom regulator Trai has mandated all service providers to provide a hard copy of the bill free of cost to its post-paid subscribers.

The order would be effective from January 24, and applicable across all types of tariff plans of mobile — GSM and CDMA — and fixed line services

Ebills and Epayments are the things to blame. Personally I see a need to have a printed copy of my mobile bill for my own records.

Youtube expands mobile version and launches Java App

Google’s Youtube has expanded its mobile version by offering its large video collection at m.youtube.com

youtube mobile

Until recently only a limited subset of the entire database was available on the mobile version.

FREE Youtube JAVA Application

They have also announced a J2ME Java Application which lets users play videos without downloading them directly. But the sad news is that application is available only for Nokia’s N73, N95, E65, 6110, 6120 and SonyEricsson k800 and w880. But it should work pretty fine on any J2ME MIDP2.0 Phone . Reliance Mobile Blog

Reliance seems to be singing the Blogging song with their latest Reliance Mobile Blog Ad on TV screens across India.

Reliance Mobile Blog is the latest addition to the features of their mobile offerings. The classical song which plays is ” You got the whole world in your hands “. With mobile penetration sky rocketing in India this new feature seems to be mainly targetted at Youth. The AD shows a pretty young girl who encourages users to share your dairy on reliance mobile world. The advert seems impressive and well taken. It seems like the AD is taken in Singapore. I checked out the Official Site  and found that users are uploading mainly images and videos. So this might well be termed as Multimedia Mobile Blogging . But my worry is that since such a service is data intensive, how much time will it take for me to upload an image/video etc. I badly want to get my hands on a reliance phone and try out this service.

Hyderabad based IMImobile seems to be the powering this service for largest CDMA operator in the country.
