Samsung Electronics has announced that it is building a $220 million dollar research and development centre in Vietnam aimed at enhancing the companies research capabilities. However, news has surfaced that Samsung had to cancel a ceremony related to the launch of the centre was cancelled, likely due to coronavirus outbreak.

Apple to pay up $500 million to settle class action lawsuit for throttling older iPhones

Samsung Galaxy A41 with Infinity-U display, 48MP triple cameras surface in renders

The Galaxy A51 was launched back in January, offering decent mid-range performance for its price. Now renders have surfaced of Samsungs next smartphone in the Galaxy A-Series, namely the Galaxy A41. OPPO Kash financial platform with mutual funds, loans and more launched in India

Similar to Xiaomi’s Mi Credit and realme’s PaySa, OPPO has also announced its entrance into financial services in India called OPPO Kash. The app, which is currently in beta, will include multiple services like mutual funds, personal loans, business loans, mobile screen insurance and more.

Google WearOS may focus on health and fitness features in future updates

Google’s WearOS has historically struggled to be a worthy competitor to Apple’s WatchOS  or Samsung’s Tizen OS. After buying FitBit back in November 2019, we expected Google to Health and Fitness functionalities into WearOS eventually. Now, Google has been asking feedback via a Google User Experience Research program on possible new features for future versions of WearOS.

Worldwide smartphone market predicted to decline by 2.3% in 2020 due to Coronavirus outbreak: IDC

The uncertainty in the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak is now starting to affect the worldwide smartphone shipment recovery for the year 2020, with IDC predicting a 2.3% decline, down to 1.3 billion shipments. The first half of 2020 will see a decline of 10.6% YoY, with the market predicted to only make up ground in the second half with accelerated 5G efforts.

India wearables market grows by 168.3% YoY with 14.9 million shipments, earwear grows 443% YoY: IDC

The Indian wearable market saw a massive growth of 168.3% year-over-year (YoY) growth in 2019, shipping about 14.9 million units during the year. Of this 5.1 million units were shipped in the Q4 of 2019 alone. Ear-wear saw a huge YoY growth of 443.6% and wrist band wearables saw a growth of 52.6% YoY.
