Just a year after introducing the feature, Twitter Fleets will no longer be available in the platform after August 3, 2021. The feature was initially introduced to get around a user’s anxiety when tweeting their thoughts, however, the company noticed that it was being used by people who tweet the most.

Twitter begins testing full-screen ads in Fleets for iOS and Android

Ever since Twitter revealed that they were looking into new ways of earning revenue on the platform, they have steadily pushed out new features for it. Their latest attempt at monetizing features on the platform is by showing full screen advertisements in Fleets, which has begun testing since June 1st.

Twitter is testing ‘Fleets’, a Snapchat-type feature that disappears after 24 hours

Twitter has become one of the last major social media platforms to copy Snapchat’s 24-hour disappearing type content, calling it ‘Fleets’. They are currently testing Fleets in Brazil and it will work differently from regular tweets, that is, users will not be able to retweet, like or publicly comment on them.
