Update: January 5, 2021 – Xiaomi has started rolling out new V12.0.3.0.RFQMIXM build, and users report that it doesn’t have any issues.
Update: January 4, 2021 – Xiaomi has announced that it will offer free service to affected Mi A3 users through service centres even beyond warranty. Xiaomi global community says that the new build V12.0.3.0.RFQMIXM will be installed to fix the issue. However, the company did not say when it will resume the Android 11 update for those who haven’t update yet. Check out the official statement below.
We are aware of the issue on some Mi A3 devices following a recent Android 11 update. We have since halted the rollout. We kindly request users who experience this issue to visit any of the 2,000 plus service centers across the country nearer to you wherein a solution will be provided for free unconditionally (within or beyond warranty).

Update: January 2, 2021 – Xiaomi has issued a statement regarding the Mi A3 Android 11 OTA update issue saying that it is working to resolve the issue soon. Check out the full statement below.
It has come to our notice that few users of Mi A3 are facing issues with the recent OTA update of Android 11. While the rollout has been stopped already at our end, our teams are working towards resolving the issue at the earliest. Customer experience is our top most priority, and we regret the inconvenience caused. We will keep all users updated on the next steps.
Earlier: Xiaomi launched the Mi A3, the company’s last Android One device, in India back in August 2019 under the Android One program. As per the policy, the smartphone is eligible to receive Android 11 update. A couple of hours ago the company started rolling out Android 11 update for Mi A3 in India. Seems like it is not going well, as there have been numerous complaints about the device not booting up after the update.

The company has not acknowledged the issue, nor it has advised users to not go ahead with the update. At the time of writing this post, we checked our unit, and the update was still available on the device.
This is not the first instance when Mi A3 users are facing trouble after a system update. Back in July, the company had rolled out an update for the smartphone which affected the dual sim functionality of the device. Though, the company was quick to rectify the issue, and roll out an update to fix the issue.
Earlier this year in Feb, the smartphone received Android 10 update but brought multiple issues along with it, so the company had to pull back the update a few days later. Later, the company rolled out another Android 10 update with bug fixes in April.
As of now, we would advise our readers to not update their devices until the company finds the cause resulting in bricking since it doesn’t let you go to bootloader, and it doesn’t respond when you connect it to PC.
