Vodafone and ICICI Bank launch M-Pesa mobile money transfer service in Haryana

Vodafone India  partnered with ICICI Bank to launch M-Pesa, mobile money transfer and payment service back in April 2013. It was introduced in Delhi and NCR in August 2013. Now Vodafone India has launched the service in Haryana region. It offers a simple and secure way to transfer money and make payments with the security of financial transactions provided by ICICI Bank. This service offers unbanked and under serviced sections of the country to gain access to financial services via the mobile phone. My Vodafone app arrives for Windows Phone 8 devices in India

Vodafone India launched My Vodafone self service app for iOS, Android and Blackberry platforms earlier this year. Now the app is available for Windows Phone platform. Just like other platforms, this lets you pay phone bills, recharge prepaid account, track service requests, subscribe to the best offers and more. You need a valid My Vodafone Login ID and password to use the app. A lot of Windows 8 smartphones including the latest Lumia 1520 did not support the app. Hope Vodafone India would upgrade the app to support more WP8 smartphones. Vodafone India launches Music service along with an Android app

Vodafone India today launched Vodafone Music, the company’s new music service that enables users stream, share and download music and watch music videos at a nominal cost. Vodafone has also launched an Android app that lets users listen, explore and download audio and video songs. This subscription-based service for Vodafone users comes in daily, weekly and monthly packs. The music service is powered by Hungama with a vast collection of songs in various genres and languages. Vodafone to reportedly buyout its Indian partners for Rs. 10,141 crore


Back in October there were reports that the UK telecom giant Vodafone was planning to increase its stake in the Indian unit by buying out its Indian partners. Now Economic Times reports that Vodafone Group will buy out its Indian partners by paying Analjit Singh Rs 1,241 crore and Piramal Enterprises Rs 8,900 crore for their stakes in Vodafone India. So the company would end up paying Rs 10,141 crore. Vodafone currently holds 64.38% stake in the Indian unit directly. Vodafone slashes 2G data rates by 80% for its Pay As You Go customers across India

Vodafone was the first operator in the country to announce reduction in 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users by 80%, back in June. It rolled out the new rates in select circles such as Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh as a pilot launch and announced that it would be rolled out in other circles across India in a phased manner. Now the company has announced the new rates would roll out for all pre-paid and post-paid customers on 2G on a ‘Pay as you Go’ basis across its circles in India from November 1, 2013. Vodafone India launches new international roaming packs, offers up to 95% discount on data


Vodafone India has launched a new international roaming pack for its pre-paid and post-paid customers in India visiting 53 countries including UK, USA, UAE, Thailand, Singapore and more. It offers over 95% discount on data and approximately 78% on outgoing local and international calls compared to existing rates. These are available in two variants, Rs. 599 and Rs. 1499 that comes  with a validity of 10 and 30 days respectively. Vodafone launched international roaming packs for post-paid users earlier this year, the new packs are cheaper than that. Vodafone plans to increase its stake in the Indian unit


Vodafone in planning to buy out minority shareholders in its Indian arm for about US$2 billion, according to a recent report from the Financial Times. Vodafone owns about 64% of Vodafone India. Piramal Healthcare run by Billionaire industrialist Ajay Piramal has 11% stake and the remaining 25% stake is controlled by undisclosed minority shareholders. This is the third season of the contest for the third Indian Grand Prix that would be held in Delhi from October 25 to 27, 2013. Vodafone launches Campus Pack with talk time, SMS and Data in Delhi & NCR

Vodafone India has launched Campus Pack, 2 new bonus cards with low calling rates for STD calls. These packs also offer Free SMS, local Vodafone to Vodafone calling minutes, 1GB of Data. The Campus Pack offers two value-for-money deals and is aimed at youth. Vodafone says that they have launched this Campus Pack to reach out to college students this admission season in Delhi and NCR.
