Airtel has launched a new unlimited internet pack for pre-paid subscribers. This new pack costs Rs. 149 that would offer unlimited internet usages up to 2GB on 2G, after that the speed would be throttled to 40 Kbps and would remain unlimited. Idea launches AURUS Dual SIM 3G Android Smartphone for Rs. 7190

Idea Cellular has launched the AURUS, their new Dual-SIM Android smarphone. It has a 3.5 inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 2.3 ( Gingerbread). It is powered by a 800MHz processor and has a 5MP camera, front-facing camera for video calling . The 5MP camera in the phone uses software interpolation that enlarges the captured image resolution beyond the actual resolution by adding extra pixels. GoCarz partners with Airtel to offer free in-cab Internet

GoCarz, Radio Taxi Service in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) has entered into a deal with Airtel to offer free Wi-Fi for the passengers travelling in their Cabs. This would let the customers stay in touch with their work and friends on their mobile phone or laptops while travelling. GoCarz already provides a bottle of water and free newspaper to the customers once they enter the car. Sistema to acquire Aircel for $3 billion

Sistema, Russia’s largest investment company is all set to acquire a controlling stake in Aircel Communications for around $3 billion (~Rs. 16,500 crore) according to a report from The Economic Times. Malaysia’s Maxis Communications owns 74% stake in Aircel that has about 65 million subscribers. 4G LTE Speed Test on EE featuring the Galaxy S3 LTE and Ascend P1 LTE

Today’s announcement by EE on the arrival of 4G LTE in the UK heralds a new era in this Britain’s telecommunication industry. It’s been a long time waiting, and judging by the initial hands on demonstration, it seems that it will be worth the wait.

Huawei’s Ascend P1 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 were two of the few handsets on display at the EE press conference today. Initial speed test shows that the devices were capable of achieving and maintaining 25+Mbps download and 12+Mbps upload speed, a fair upgrade over T-Mobile’s current 3G network.

No price plans has been announced yet. The rollout of EE’s 4G LTE network will begin this year and they aim to cover 1/3rd of the population by the end of the year.

Everything Everywhere launches a new company brand, LTE in Britain

Everything Everywhere, the UK telecommunication company that was formed following the merger of T-Mobile and Orange UK, today announced a new company brand and details of their LTE network, the first in Britain. The company will from today be called EE, though the T-Mobile and Orange brands will continue to co-exist. EE is positioning the new brand as one focused on delivering super fast broadband via fiber and 4G LTE service.

EE’s 4G network will be switched on for trials today in London, with more cities joining at a later date. In addition to London, EE aims to launch LTE Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle, Southampton, Hull, Nottingham and Derby by Christmas of this year. They aim to provide a coverage for 20 million people, a third of the population of Britain, by the end of the year.

EE has insisted that the new brand will allow them to tap other markets, including fibre and broadband as well as other new categories. While the 700 T-Mobile, Orange and Everything Everywhere stores will be rebranded to EE, there will be three distinct brands for consumers, with EE focused primarily on the top-end of the spectrum. Phones confirmed to be launching on the network includes the Samsung Galaxy S III LTE, HTC One XL, Huawei Ascend P1 LTE, Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920.

Aircel launches Pocket Buddies pack with SMS and Unlimited data starting at Rs. 22

Aircel has launched a new pack called Pocket Buddies – Srf n Txt, that offers unlimited surfing and texting at a low price. This is aimed at youth and offers 100 MB of 3G Data (speeds up to 3.6 Mbps) and 600 free local and National SMS at just Rs. 22. There are also other packs at different denominations such as Rs. 88 with 15 days validity and Rs. 128 and Rs. 198 with 30 days validity. Motorola Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD with 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display, 4G LTE announced

Motorola has announced the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD for Verizon Wireless. Both these phones come with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by end of 2012). Both these phones come with similar features and design including a DuPont Kevlar fiber back and 4G LTE support. The Droid Razr Maxx HD has a powerful  3300 mAh battery similar to the original Razr Maxx.
