Reliance Jio unveiled JioPhone, the company’s first VoLTE feature phone back in July and started pre-bookings in August. The company started delivering the pre-ordered units for customers from last week. The phone comes with a new Jio SIM card and has Dhan Dhana Dhan Rs. 153 plan that offers unlimited voice and data. Apple today launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in India, it had promised. Reliance Jio launched these smartphones at an event in Mumbai in partnership with Apple. Reliance introduced its first VoLTE feature phone, the JioPhone at its 40th annual general body meeting. The company had announced that the JioPhone is effectively free, but to avoid misuse, Reliance was collecting INR 1500 as a security deposit.
The deal offered the JioPhone user to use his phone for 36 months and be eligible to get a full refund of the security deposit by returning the used JioPhone. After Gionee, Xiaomi, ASUS and most recently OPPO, Intex has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Reliance Jio to offer up to 25GB additional data at 5GB data per month with a recharge of Rs. 309 or above for up to 5 recharges for its 4G smartphones when services are activated for the first time, on or after September 4th, 2017 and is valid till March 31st, 2018. Reliance Jio unveiled its JioPhone at the 40th AGM in July and the pre-bookings for the phone began August 24th at 5:30PM. Bookings for the phone crossed 3 million in a couple of hours after the bookings opened even though there were issues booking online and through MyJio app. In 24 hours bookings for the phone crossed 6 million through online and offline channels, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Reliance Jio unveiled its JioPhone at the 40th AGM last month, and the company said that pre-booking for the phone will start on August 24th. As promised today the company has announced that the phone will be available for pre-booking through MyJio app and jio.com online as well as Jio retailers and multi-brand device retailers including the Reliance Digital stores network offline at 5:30PM tomorrow.

Reliance Jio unveiled JioPhone, the company’s first VoLTE feature phone last month. It will start pre-bookings for the phone from 5:30PM today. At the launch it revealed some of the specifications such as 2.4-inch QVGA screen,microSD slot, torch light, FM Radio, support for 22 major Indian languages and voice commands to call someone, reject a call, browse internet, open apps and more. It already confirmed NFC support, and said that tap-and-pay payments through UPI, credit and debit cards will be enabled through software update. Reliance Jio launched its MyJio app back in May last year before it started offering Jio Preview Offer for consumers. Earlier this week it crossed 100 million or 10 Crore installs on the Google Play Store. It crossed 50 million installs back in December last year after it hit 10 million in September last year. Reliance Jio is in talks with WhatsApp to create a special version of the popular messaging app for newly launched JioPhone, according to a latest report from Factor Daily. Both the companies are planning to introduce a toned-down version of WhatsApp on the feature phone.

Reliance Jio unveiled its first 4G VoLTE feature phone – JioPhone yesterday. The company revealed some of the features of the phone, but it did not confirm complete specifications at the event or on its site. Today Qualcomm India confirmed that the phone is powered by its latest 205 Mobile Platform which is a 1.1GHz Dual Core SoC with integrated X5 LTE Global Mode modem for VoLTE and multimode dual SIM. The Lava 4G Connect M1, which was the launched as the first VoLTE feature phone is powered by a Quad-core Spreadtrum SP9820A Processor.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries at the company’s 40th annual AGM announced that Reliance Jio has crossed 125 million customers in 10 months of launch, adding 7 customers every second on average. He also said the company has over 100 million paid customers, since March, which is the biggest free to paid user migration, and most have recharged for Rs. 309 or more. After an open-house held by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today regarding interconnection usage charges (IUC) where Reliance Jio proposed to make IUC zero, Airtel has sent out a release saying that Reliance Jio is creating monopoly, throttling competition by proposing zero IUC. “By proposing a transition to the ‘Bill and Keep’ regime with zero MTC, Reliance Jio wants to simply transfer its cost to Airtel and other operators,” said Airtel.
The first image of a VoLTE feature phone from Jio surfaced earlier this year. Now a new LYF branded Jio VoLTE feature phone has surfaced in images. We still don’t know the final name of the phone, but TechPP that got hold of the images of the phone says that the phone runs KAI OS, a forked version of HTML5-based Firefox OS that was killed by Mozilla last year.
