Gionee is finally launching Marathon M5, its latest smartphone in the M series with whopping 6020mAh battery in India on November 24th at an event in Bangalore. It was introduced at an event in Beijing back in June, packs two 3010 battery cells that promises up to 62 hours of standby even if the phone has only 5% of power left. It has fast dual charging chips and can also be used to charge other devices.

Lenovo Vibe S1 with dual selfie cameras launching in India on November 23

Lenovo introduced the Vibe S1 smartphone with dual front-facing cameras at the IFA in September. Today the company has sent out invites for the launch of the selfie-focused smartphone in India on November 23rd. The 8-megapixel front-facing camera, along with the secondary 2-megapixel camera will offer crisp images and advanced depth of field, including background blur, background swap and improved low-light results, said Lenovo.

Ola secures $500 million in funding, now valued at over $5 billion

After last month’s report that Ola had secured an investment of an undisclosed amount from Chinese ride-hailing company Didi Kuaidi, Falcon Edge, GIC, Tiger Global Management, and SoftBank are other investors, the company yesterday confirmed $500 million in Series F funding, which now values it at over $5 billion. Obi Mobiles, backed by John Scully got re-branded to Obi Worldphone back in August. It even introduced two new smartphones – Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5 designed by San Francisco-based product studio Ammunition. These phones were launched in Vietnam and Dubai recently, today the company said that Obi Worldphone will launch in India this month, but only the Worldphone SF1 is expected. Obi said that it has partnered with Qualcomm, Dolby, Sony, Corning Incorporated, Google, MediaTek, Japan Display, Inc. and Samsung for these smartphones. HTC just sent out invites for the launch of the One A9 smartphone in India on November 25th. Even though the invite just mentions save the date _ 25.11.2015 on a charcoal background, it is similar to the invite for last month’s One A9’s announcement. The first smartphone in the new One A series was unveiled last month, and packs a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Octa-Core Snapdragon 617 processor, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with HTC Sense UI on top, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), RAW image capture and an Ultrapixel front-facing camera. Aircel announced a new first-of-its-kind Free Basic Internet offer for its customers last month. Today it launched it in Jammu & Kashmir. All new prepaid customers in J&K can now browse and actively use their favorite applications such as Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter at Rs. 144, which offers unlimited data with a speed of 64Kbps and 90 days validity. The offer is aimed at fuelling mobile internet adoption in J&K, keeping in view that a considerable population of mobile phone users is still offline, said the company.
