Microsoft teams up with Acer to pre-install its Android apps on phones and tablets

Microsoft has partnered with Acer to pre-load productivity apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype on select Android smartphones and tablets from Acer. The company said that it will start the pre-installing the apps from second half of 2016.

Microsoft and GoPro ink patent licensing deal for file storage tech

Microsoft and GoPro have signed a cross-licensing patent agreement. Microsoft did not disclose the exact term of the deal, but it said that the new collaborative patent licensing agreement is for certain file storage and other system technologies. Since the company launched its IP licensing program in December 2003, it has entered into more than 1,200 licensing agreements with companies like Samsung, ZTE, LG, HTC, AcerDell and Motorola Solutions. Microsoft officially confirms it has acquired SwiftKey

After reports, Microsoft has officially announced that it has acquired SwitKey, one of the popular keyboard app makers. The exact amount of the deal is not disclosed, but it is said to be $250 million, according to an earlier report. Microsoft Lumia 850 render based on factory-acquired schematics surfaced back in December last year, later the case of the smartphone leaked. Now live images of the smartphone have surfaced in a new leak from China (Via). The leak also says that the phone will have a 5.4-inch display compared to 5.5 / 5.7-inch screen as rumored earlier. It shows the smartphone’s metal frame and Iris Scanner at the top right corner.

Microsoft Surface revenue up 29%, phone revenue declined 49% in Q2 FY 2016

Microsoft has announced earnings for Q2 2016 where it reported $25.7 billion in revenue and $6.3 billion in net income. It looks like Surface is finally doing the job for Microsoft, as it recorded $1.35 billion in revenue, up from $672 million in previous quarter and up from $1.1 billion year-over-year.
