iPhone Flops in India now onto China

When the Indian phone fanatics came to know about the release of the Apple iPhone 3G in India, they are all were all excited and so was Apple who expected to see great sales in the largest cellphone market in the world.

But that was not to be the case. When the iPhone 3G was released on Vodafone and Airtel, it disappointed a lot of awaiting customers due to it’s high price of 700US$. Even the people who bought their iPhone 3Gs couldn’t use it fully due to the lack of 3G networks in India. A senior Airtel executive said that iPhone sales have yet to reach 20,000 handsets. iPhone 3.0 OS: New Features

Well over the last few years we have grown to love the IPhone and some people questioned whether Apple could really improve on the previous IPhone OS. Today Apple gave us a peek at the new IPhone OS which is schedule for release in the summer.

Below I have listed a number of the big enhancements to the OS.

  • Search your iPhone
    • So the folks at Apple created an app called “Spotlight”. Spotlight is a new home screen that you do all your searching from. Searching your calendar, email and notes are among the few applications you can search through.
  • Cut, copy, and paste
    • Of all the features that people have long been waiting for Copy and Paste is probably one of the biggest. It’s worth mentioning that you can select multiple pictures, copy them and then paste them into a new message.

Breaking : iPhone 3G Now Available Officially without a contract

The Apple insider blog has come up with a news that iPhone will now be sold on unrestricted quantities without being locked to any specific network or service provider. Though there were jail broken iPhones already available across different parts of the world, but Apple has now made it official and will be selling unlocked contract fee iPhones officially.

According to reports, this move has been initiated to clear the bulk stock of iPhones to prepare for the launch of new iPhone coming in june this year

After iPhone and iPhone 2.0 ( 3G) Apple might launch iPhone 3.0 in June 2009

A handset that set new benchmarks in smartphone technology will launch a third-generation Apple smartphone in June 2009.

AT&T, the exclusive iPhone carrier in the US, has confirmed the news recently.

The new handset promises to be faster than the 3G experience of current phones and should offer a “more seamless experience.”

Apple wins Gold Award at Future Mobile Awards 2009.

Juniper Research has announced the winners of the Future Mobile Award 2009. Under the Future Mobile Games category, Apple won the Gold award and Fishlabs won the silver award.

Apple was given the award considering the innovation Apple and App Store provided from the developers and consumers perspective.While the device provides the developers to create compelling and visually attractive games, together with a business model offering a highly competitve revenue share,
for the consumers it has provided the UI which provides a great gaming experience.

AT&T to offer unlocked iPhone 3G without contract

Finally its happening!

Since the launch of first gen iPhone on AT&T network, we were all waiting for this to happen. March 26th will mark the arrival of unlocked no-contract iPhone 3G in US market.
Yes, if the leaks are supposed to be believed, AT&T will offer unlocked iPhone 3G, without any contract obligations. You just need to be an existing AT&T customer, and can purchase the iPhone with no in-store activation required.

The price is 599/699 dollars for 8/16 GB respectively. This is much more than the current contractual price, but gives its customers an option of selecting their best usage plan, unlike the iPhone pre-definced plans.
Also, the price is relatively cheaper than the unlocked iPhone available in Hong Kong and Italy.

Facebook Connects with iPhone

Facebook applications will now be available on the iPhone through Facebook Connect. Through Connect, developers can code iPhone OS-friendly Facebook applications, simply by adding a few lines of ‘Objective C’ which is used in App development for iPhone OS.

Henceforth, iPhone or iPod Touch users will be able to log into Facebook directly within an app and share whatever they wish to with friends.

Premium section on App Store to sort applications

Apple is going to create a Premium section on the App Store.

The App store currently has over 15,000 applications and above 500,000,000 downloads, making looking for a particular software a tedious task.

What Apple now proposes to do is that of the several developers, it’s being rumored that the game development companies will be given preference for the ‘Premium’ section of the App Store.

This move also comes close on the heels of Apple’s announcement of the new OS 3.0. Perhaps applications of the new operating system will figure in the new section, making searches easy for the end user.

Nokia Ovi Store vs Apple App Store – an indepth comparison

Since Nokia announced the Ovi store at the Mobile World Congress this year, speculations have been rife about the success of this store in comparison to the already well-established and popular App Store from Apple. The N97 will be the first phone integrated into the service, with the remaining phones following when the system goes live in May.

We take a deeper look at the speculations and give you an insight into what’s in store for the end-user and beneficiary of what is clearly the big software battle between two giants.

First the similarities: Both Apple and Nokia offer a 70% revenue share to developers.

Differences: Apple began its App Store as a request from the public and developers to be allowed to develop products for the iPhone while Nokia is opening an application store to stream revenue into the company with a share of app sale prices, and to potentially push the sales of cellphones and smartphones.
