Qualcomm at the MWC 2019 has announced the Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platform with 5G integrated into a System-on-Chip (SoC) which is based on the Snapdragon X50 and X55 5G modems and RF front-end (RFFE) solutions. It also announced its first 5G customer premise equipment (CPE) reference design for sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G fixed wireless broadband (FWB) products. Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 7nm 5G modem with 7Gbps download speeds announced

Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon X55 5G modem, which is the company’s second-generation 5G New Radio (NR) modem. The Snapdragon X55 is a 7-nanometer single-chip integrated 5G to a 2G multimode modem that supports 5G NR mmWave and sub-6GHz spectrum bands with up to 7Gbps download speeds and 3Gbps upload speeds over 5G, and Category 22 LTE with up to 2.5 Gbps LTE download speeds. Qualcomm said to be testing QM215 SoC for Android Go phones

Qualcomm is said to be working on a new super low-end QM215 SoC that is likely targeted at the new generation Android Go smartphones. Meaning the SoC should be found on devices with 1/2GB RAM and 8/16GB storage with HD+ display. Qualcomm granted preliminary injunction to ban sale and import of Apple iPhones in Germany

Qualcomm has announced that the District Court of Munich found that Apple is infringing Qualcomm’s intellectual property for power savings in smartphones and granted Qualcomm’s request for a permanent injunction, ordering Apple to cease the sale, offer for sale and importation for sale in Germany. Qualcomm now seeks to ban Apple iPhone XS and XR in China

After Qualcomm was granted a preliminary injunction to ban the sale and import of Apple iPhone 6s through iPhone X in China, Qualcomm now plans to file for an injunction on the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR in China. This would prevent the sale of those devices in the country. Qualcomm has granted the preliminary injunction after it ruled that the devices violated two Qualcomm patents. Verizon to offer Inseego MiFi 5G NR Mobile Hotspot in 2019

Inseego Corp and Verizon demonstrated Virtual Reality Telemedicine over 5G at Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit. Both the companies have conducted a live virtual reality telemedicine demonstration in partnership with Columbia University using an Inseego mobile hotspot device that is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and Snapdragon X50 5G modem and antenna modules with integrated RF transceiver, RF front-end, and antenna elements, running on Verizon’s 5G NR mobile network. Qualcomm and Nokia announce the completion of 5G NR mmWave and Sub-6 GHz Over-the-Air interoperability

Qualcomm Technologies and Nokia have announced that they have successfully achieved over-the-air (OTA) 5G NR data calls in both the mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum bands. It is in compliant with the global 3GPP 5G NR Release 15 specification in NSA mode. The interoperability testing milestones were completed at Nokia’s 5G center of excellence in Oulu, Finland using commercially available Nokia AirScale base stations and a test device powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and antenna modules. Federal Trade Commission rules Qualcomm must license its modem patents to competitors

The U.S. federal court in a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which monitors acts of commerce, ruled against Qualcomm over the alleged anti-competitive practices and abuse of FRAND patents. Qualcomm says Apple still owes $7 billion in device royalty payments

Qualcomm Inc. in its ongoing federal dispute with Apple on October 26th, in a San Diego federal court, said that the Cupertino company is $7 billion behind in patent royalty payments to the mobile chip firm. While this claim doesn’t mean that Apple owes Qualcomm that much, but reveals the scale of fines in the legal dispute.
