Airtel, Ericsson conduct India’s first rural 5G trial

Airtel today announced that it has conducted India’s first 5G network demonstration in a rural geography in Bhaipur Bramanan village on the outskirts of Delhi/NCR using 5G trial spectrum allocated to Airtel by the Department of Telecom in partnership with  Ericsson.

Airtel begins mid-band 5G trials in Gurgaon’s Cyber Hub

After receiving approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to begin 5G trials in India last month, Airtel has begun rolling out their mid-band 5G trial network in Gurgaon’s Cyber Hub. The test is being conducted on the 3500 MHz band and is utilizing 5G networking gear from Ericsson.

Airtel adds additional 5MHz spectrum in 1800MHz band in Tamil Nadu to enhance network coverage

Airtel, one of India’s largest cellular network companies, has announced an upgrade to its Tamil Nadu network with the addition of 5MHz in the 1800 MHz band. This brings Airtel’s total spectrum bank in Tamil Nadu to 65MHz, which is one of the largest among cellular network carriers in the state.

DoT approves Jio, Airtel, Vi and MTNL for 5G trials; Chinese vendors not allowed

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has permitted Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), including Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Vodafone Idea, and MTNL, to conduct 5G trials in the country. These companies will tie up with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers — Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and Development of Telematics (C-DoT).
