Micromax unveiled the A116 Canvas HD with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor back in January. It was originally priced at Rs. 13990, and the company started selling the device through online retailer Snapdeal starting from February 14th. They sold over 9000 units of the A116 Canvas HD in the first 24 hours, and started taking pre-orders for the device since all the lots were sold out.
Micromax’s online partner, Snapdeal has announced that shipments has been delayed 10 working days due to procedural issues. They have apologized for the delay on their Facebook page, saying that they shipped the first lot of the orders despite the demand, and working on shipping the devices for current orders soon.
Regarding the increase in price, Snapdeal says that it’s due to the increase in customs duty on mobile phones costing more than Rs 2,000. The price has been revised from Rs. 13990 to Rs. 14,499 for the new customers. Old customers who ordered already would get the device at the original price. They would also offer free Carry Case worth Rs. 700 as a token of gratitude to these customers. Customers can also cancel their order and get the full refund if they wish.
