Samsung unveils 2026 ‘Over the Horizon’ theme ahead of Galaxy S26 launch

Samsung has introduced the 2026 iteration of its signature Galaxy brand sound, “Over the Horizon.”

This year’s composition, titled “A Soundtrack of the Earth,” utilizes orchestral melodies to explore themes of nature, sustainability, and the intersection of technology and the environment. The track was officially released ahead of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series unveiling, scheduled for February 25 (PST).

The Evolution of a Brand Sound

Each year, Samsung updates “Over the Horizon” to reflect different musical styles and brand philosophies. The 2026 edition utilizes the rich harmonies of a full orchestra to convey its message of environmental sustainability. This shift in genre follows previous adaptations, which included a traditional Korean orchestral arrangement in 2024 and a big band jazz interpretation in 2025.

Composition and Arrangement

The 2026 version was arranged by Los Angeles-based composer and pianist Eunike Tanzil. Known for her expressive harmonies, Tanzil initially caught Samsung’s attention in February 2024 after sharing her own reinterpretation of the theme on social media. For this official release, she structured the arrangement to mirror elements of the natural world:

  • The Mountains: The majestic opening sequence is driven by brass and horn instruments, intended to evoke the scale of towering landscapes.
  • The Sea: The middle section relies on smooth legato strings to represent the calm and expansiveness of the ocean.
  • Cultural Integration: A defining feature of the 2026 arrangement is the inclusion of the angklung.
Recording and Production

The piece was recorded at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. To enhance the spatial auditory experience, producer and engineer Jonathan Allen incorporated Dolby Atmos technology.

The production team also utilized strategic microphone placement to capture and amplify the natural acoustics and sense of space within the studio.
