Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro listing confirms IP68 ratings, five years security updates, support for 30W wired and up to 23W wireless charging


Google already confirmed that it will introduce the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones on October 19th. Even though most specifications of the smartphone is out, now the product page is out on Carphone Warehouse site that reveals more details about the phones. This confirms Android security updates for at least five years, but it is not clear if this will also be the same for Android OS updates, as rumored earlier.

This also confirms Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front, IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance, and it will sell Qi-certified Google Pixel Stand (2nd gen) that offer up to 21W charging for Pixel 6 and up to 23W charging for the Pixel 6 Pro. Both the phones will also support 30W wired charging that can charge Pixel 6 Pro’s battery up to 50% in just 30 minutes. It also says that the phone will last for more than 24 hours, even on 5G.

Google already confirmed that the Pixel 6 series will not come with a charger in the box. Google will also sell Pixel 6 Case made with translucent material, and the company says that it has been designed with over 30% recycled plastics. The tensor chip with intelligent machine learning helps you to translate messages and videos without Internet, and promises 80% faster performance compared to Pixel 5. There is Titan M2 security chip.

Both the phones will feature a new 50-megapixel camera  with bigger sensors to capture more colour, more detail and 150% more light than Pixel 5. There is a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. The Pixel 6 Pro also has a 48MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and Super Res Zoom lets you zoom up to 20x. It will come with Google Tensor’s custom image processor and built-in computational photography with features like Night Sight, Portrait Mode, Magic Eraser and Face Unblur, which can deblur a face to make it sharper.

Google already said that the phone will be launched in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Taiwan and United Kingdom. It is not clear if the phone will launch in India in the future.
