Google confirms Pixel 6 will not come with a charger in the box

Google is the latest company that has confirmed that it will not include a charger in the box with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, so it will only come with a USB Type-C charging cable along with the phone. Confirming this to The Verge, Google said that “most people already have a USB-C charging brick, so there’s no longer a need to include one with its phones.” The Pixel 5a 5G that was introduced yesterday will be the last Pixel phone that comes with a charger in the box.

Apple removed both the power adapter and EarPods from the box in the iPhone 12 series and said that this move is to reach its environmental goals. Even Samsung has removed the charger from its flagships, starting with the Galaxy S21 series.

Xiaomi started removing chargers from the box, starting with the Mi 11 series, but it also offers a separate charger free of cost for those who need it. However, this is limited to China, since it continues to provide a charger in the box in other countries.

Google has already confirmed that the Pixel 6 series will go official sometime in the fall, which is around October.
