Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro detailed specs surface, might get software updates for 5 years

Google is gearing up to launch its Pixel 6 (Codename: Oriole) and Pixel 6 Pro (Codename: Raven) smartphones later this year. We had already seen renders of the phones that revealed a 6.4-inch AMOLED display and dual rear cameras for the Pixel 6 and 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display and triple rear cameras for the Pixel 6 Pro. These phones are said to be powered by Whitechapel chip, which is a custom-chip being developed by Google. Now the detailed specifications of the phones have surfaced, thanks to leakster Jon Prosser.

Both the phones will obviously run Android 12 out of the box. However, this time the company is said to be planning to offer at least 5 years of software updates for the phones. It is not clear if this means 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security updates, or 5 years of Android and security updates. The company’s current Pixel phones get 3 years of software and security updates. With 5 years of updates, Google will beat Samsung and match Apple in terms of updates.
