Xiaomi shows off 200W fast charging that charges 0-100% in 8 minutes and 120W wireless charging

After introducing 100W fast charging technology in 2019 and 120W fast charging in Mi 10 Ultra last year, Xiaomi today introduced 200W HyperCharge fast charging technology which is currently the highest ever in a smartphone.  The company also posted a video that shows a phone with a 4000mAh battery that takes just 44 seconds for 10% charge, 50% in just 3 minutes and 100% charge takes just 8 minutes.

This is half the time the company’s 100W fast charging took a couple of years back. Unlike last time the company did not compare this with any other phone from a competitor. OPPO’s 125W (20V-6.25A) Flash charge and realme’s 125W UltraDART fast charging can charge a phone with 4000mAh battery from 0 to 100% in 20 minutes and reaches 50% in about 7 minutes.

After introducing 80W wireless fast charging technology last year, Xiaomi today introduced 120W wireless fast charging technology that can charge the phone’s 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 100% in just 15 minutes compared to 19 minutes. Xiaomi has demoed these fast charging technologies in a modified Mi 10 Pro smartphone that shows 4,000 mAh battery on the phone being charged up to 10% in 1 minute, 50% in 8 minutes and 100% in 19 minutes.

Xiaomi says that these are new industry records for both wired and wireless fast charging. The company did not say when these charging technologies will be implemented in smartphones.
