Coolpad launched its flagship Coolpad Max in India this week. It is their high-end smartphone that will also be available from Amazon exclusively.

The Coolpad Max has a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS 2.5D Curved display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 617 processor, and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with Cool UI 8.0 on top. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) for quick focus and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Coolpad Max -3

It has Dual Space feature that allows users to have two accounts on WhatsApp, Facebook and other social media applications in a single smartphone with a BiLogin feature. It  has Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology and the 9V/2A charger and offers 2 hours of talk time with 5 minutes of charge. The Coolpad Max comes in Gold and Rose Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 24,999 in India. It will be exclusively available from Amazon.in starting May 30th. Check out our hands-on impressions here.

Motorola launched the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphones in India. Both the phones have a 5.5-inch 1080p screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, are powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 617 SoC, run Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) and feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Moto G4 has a 13-megapixel rear camera, while the Moto G4 Plus comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, Laser auto-focus and software features such as professional mode.

The G4 Plus also has a fingerprint sensor that can unlock the phone in less than 750 milliseconds.Both these have water repellent nano-coating and pack 3000mAh battery with support for Turbo Charging that will offer 6 hours of usage with 15 minutes of charging. The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus comes in Black and White colors. The Moto G4 Plus starts at Rs. 13,499 for the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage variant and the the 3GB RAM with 32GB version is priced at Rs. 14,999. It is available starting from Amazon.in. The Moto G4 will be available next month, but no details about the pricing yet.

Smartron launched t.phone at an event in Hyderabad. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla 3 protection, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and a 4MP front-facing camera.

It has hybrid dual SIM slot that lets you use the second SIM slot as a microSD slot when required and has 4G LTE connectivity. It has a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. The phone has tronx that enables you to access various unique services from Smartron – t.cloud, t.store and t.care.

The Smartron t.phone comes in Orange, Silver, Blue and Violet colors and is priced at Rs. 22,999. It will be available from Smartron tstore and Gadgets360 from early June.

Intex launched Aqua Secure, the company’s first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor. It also has 4G LTE support with VoLTE. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, is powered by a MediaTek MT6735M SoC and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has a USB Type-C port and comes with dual SIM support.

The Intex Aqua Secure comes in Golden and Grey color with Matt finish back cover and is priced at Rs. 6,499.

Micromax launched Canvas Evok E483, the company’s latest 4G smartphone in the Canvas series. It packs a 5.5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass screen, is powered by a 1.4GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 415 processor, runs on Android  Lollipop OS, comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Micromax Canvas Evok

The smartphone has dual-SIM support and 4G connectivity, including support for both TDD-LTE Band 40 (2300MHz) and FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz) for India. It also has 3GB of RAM and packs a 3000mAh battery. The Micromax Canvas Evok E483 comes in Black color, is priced at Rs.8,499 and will be available exclusively from Flipkart.

The company also launched two new budget 3G smartphones in Bolt series – Bolt Supreme and Bolt Supreme 2. The Bolt Supreme has a 3.5-inch display and the Bolt Supreme 2 has a 3.9-inch screen, but the display resolution is not known yet. Both the phones have a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. These also have dual SIM support.

Micromax Bolt Supreme 2

The Micromax Bolt Supreme comes in Champagne with White and GREY with Black color and is priced at Rs. 2,749. The Bolt Supreme 2 comes in  Grey colour and is priced at Rs. 2,999.

Panasonic launched upgraded version of the last year’s Eluga I2 4G with 2GB and 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, compared to 1GB of RAM in the original Eluga I2. It also has an improved 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash and 4G Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support for Indian specific LTE bands – 3, 5 and 40. Other specifications are the same, including a 5-inch HD screen, 1GHz quad-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2000mAh battery.

Panasonic Eluga I2

The Panasonic Eluga I2 Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold and Metallic Grey colors and is priced at Rs. 7,990 for the 2GB RAM variant and Rs. 8,990 for the 3GB RAM variant.

LG launched Stylus 2, successor of last year’sG4 Stylus in India. It has a 5.7-inch HD in-cell touch display, is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a 7.4mm slim body with a metal frame and is just 145 grams.

LG Stylus 2

It comes with a stylus pen, similar to earlier LG Stylus phones, but the new nano-coated tip promises more accuracy compared to the previous rubber-tipped pen. The LG Stylus 2 comes in Titan, White and Brown colors and is priced at Rs. 19,500 (MOP), while the MRP is Rs. 20,500.

Kingston launched DataTraveler microDuo 3C, an USB OTG drive for smartphones and tablets with a USB Type-C connector in India. It was announced last year, has a standard USB Type-A ( USB 3.1, 3.0, 2.0) connector on the other end that lets you connect it to a PC, laptop or a Mac to transfer files easily. The USB Type-C enables a single port to function as a point for data transfer, video output, charging and even power external devices.DataTraveler microDuo 3C USB Flash Drive
The Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C is priced at MRPs of Rs .800, Rs. 1,200 and Rs. 2,000 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants, respectively. It is exclusively available from Flipkart and is backed by a five-year warrant and free technical support.

Weekly Announcements

After the launch of Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus in India, Motorola introduced the Moto G4 Play, a budget 4G smartphone. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display and is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, similar to the Moto G (3rd Gen), but this has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1080p video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support and has has water resistant nano coating.

Moto G4 Play

It has dual-SIM support, 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and also has an expansion slot. It has a 2800mAh battery with Quick Charging. The Motorola Moto G4 Play will roll out globally starting later this summer. No word on pricing yet.

Alcatel announced Flash Plus 2, the company’s latest smartphone and the successor of the Flash Plus that was introduced back in 2014. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, is powered by an Octa-Core Helio P10 SoC, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF for ultra-fast 0.3s focus and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash.Alcatel Flash Plus 2

It also has a fingerprint sensor below the display. It has a full aluminum unibody design and packs a 3000mAh battery with Flash Charging that can charge the phone up to 50% in just 30 minutes. The Alcatel Flash Plus 2 comes in Luna Silver and Venus Gold colors, is priced US$ 160 (Rs. 10,675 approx.) for a 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version and $190 (Rs. 12,680 approx.) for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage variant.

Sony Mobile announced Xperia XA Ultra, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the new X series. It has a 6-inch 1080p, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 21.5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Hybrid Auto-Focus and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera that also has a LED flash and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for capturing shake-free selfies. It also has a dedicated camera button.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra
The Sony Xperia XA Ultra comes in White,  Black and Lime Gold colors. No word on roll out details and pricing yet.

Lastly, Garmin launched a new Vivosmart HR+ fitness activity tracker which is upgrade to last year’s Vivosmart HR. The latest Vivosmart HR+ comes with a built-in GPS and other new features.Vivosmart GarminThe GPS helps the device to accurately track distance, time and place for activities, as well as view a map of their activity on Garmin Connect. It will now auto detect activities thanks to the Garmin Move IQ auto activity detection. The vívosmart HR+ also includes Garmin Move IQ, a feature that continuously monitors for periods of sustained activity. The Vivosmart HR+ is priced at $219.99 and is available in regular size black/shark fin gray, imperial purple/kona purple and midnight blue/bolt blue, and an extra-large black/shark fin gray band.
