    Great review and effort!

The E72 seems to be one of the best performers!

iPhone 4 obviously artificially increases the saturation to make pictures snapped with it look more attractive. It’s biggest strength is actually low light photography. The flash is no good though.

Btw, a bit disappointed that Xperia X10 wasn’t included in the tests (because X10 is the best Android camera phone in India).

The Nokia X6 and the Apple iPhone 4 were the best for me in amount of detail :D
In contrast I prefer the N82. (or Dynamic Range, or whatever the ability to get detail on both the darker and brighter areas of the image)
The images are oversaturated in both the iPhone 4 and the OmniaHD, the latter ridiculously xD

Every Nokia suffers overcompression and too much sharpening.
And your N82 has something wrong in it… the photos should be practically the same as the N95′s, but the latter performs way better for you. :\ Strange.

I’m eager to see the videos :D . What will you do with the different resolutions? Will you let people download the original files?
Do you test microphones too? (superb image quality with crappy audio = bad video)

    n82 any day!
Xenon flash Makes a whole new world of difference!

Iphone cams were always dissapointing…..and they still are (Hey! the whole iPhone is!)

  • VanZan

And I thought the N86 is the best… NO
iPhone 4 has much less compression, arthefacts and noise.
iPhone 4 showas much more details.
The bigger resolution of some of the phones here is NO advantage…

    WTF

  • Prateek

I thot iPhone sucked at taking pikchars. U prove me wrong mate. It wins dis contest hands down.

  • apaul

Well results tell the obvious….There is not a certain bit of doubt that the iPhone 4 is the clear winner….They’ve packed in serious camera hardware and yes “More megapixels doesn’t mean better pictures”

Surprisingly enough the xperia x10 mini gives the iphone 4 a run for its money…because at some points the pics on the x10 mini come out more natural and properly saturated

The best 3 camera phones from this competition is clearly::

    1) iPhone 4

    2) Xperia x10 Mini

    3) Nokia X6

  • apaul

And yes Varun, more tests like these are welcome

This doesn’t seem to be a fair fight dude. iPhone 4 is the latest device. You should have stacked em up against Xperia X10 or Samsung galaxy or Evo or Incredible and stuff.

They will give a much better review and comparison of iPhone 4 capabilities. Anyways this is a really good effort. Hope to see more such quality articles apart from news from you guys.

    Keep it up!!

Just wanted to share this as well.

i think the nokia n82 has the more natural colors , other are either washed out , or over-exaggerate (the colors are enhanced too much)

  • Xnes

It’s missing the best camera smartphone on the market in this comparisson. The Sony Ericsson Satio. The only 12Mpixel and Xenon Flash with Cybershot Lens. Then would be a better comparisson.

  • md

which phone is better micromax q5 or q7 in sound quality????

  • Siva

    Hey guys,

Were these pics taken in Marina Beach, Chennai by any chance ??

Also where are the pics for N8 :( I want to compare these pics with N8 as the benchmark :D

  • Satya

Iphone photos looks really colourfull but nokia n82 photos really sharp and crisp wait for n8

  • Kumar

This is really nice, how abt a video comparison between all these phones.

  • http://www.fonearena.com Varun Krish

This is Besant Nagar Beach :) Once we get n8 we are sure to do the shootout again :)

  • abcd

E72 is sharper better colour than the rest. Very detailed and clear with good light and okay light. But very similar to N900 in low light.

  • Shahul

Hi great comparisons but uve forgot to include Samsung Jet s8000 it has also a 5 mpixels camera , Although Nokia x6 has better light conditions and even samsung omnia HD.

  • abcd

Would be really helpful if you can add DSLR picture of the scence as well? So we have a good idea how the quality is like compairing to the proper digital camera.

  • mayahacker

Cheating with photos? N82 with zenon flash is best & SE xperia too… Iphone4 ? buhahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Failure forever :O :D :P

  • Alok P. Singh

As far as brightness and colour pictures taken from iPHONE4 is the best among the comparison shown.

  • ppp

    hehhe

    Hello? Are you blind :)

I’m big fan of Nokia N86 and was big fan of N95

But the sharpness and clarity of iPhone 4 pictures is the best here. Sorry my lovin’ N86, but you over-compress you photos. So that leaves and grass look like a green mess. The iPhone shows each leave on the two photos with the trees.

ANd the photo on the beach, again iPhone 4 shows much more then the other.

And to the N82 owners here, I’m very disappointed of the N82. It’s not even a good camera phone, and 100% not the best. Stop dreaming ;)

  • hrnndnn

Samsung’s omnia has equal clarity,or more than that that of here shown phones

  • toorop

maybe it depends on the screen we watch this photos too :P

  • http://cellulars.tetis.dp.ua cell

    no one photo inside :(

  • N900

N900 ist clearly the best one. :)

  • millicurie

Thanks for the good work. The N82 with xenon flash still produces the widest illumination but the iPhone 4 has better colour/contrast with LED. However, what’s the distance between those stuff toys and the camera? I imagine the farther you are from the subject, the better the N82 flash will work (compared to the iPhone LED). None of the other devices even come close in terms of picture quality.
