VideoLAN has the VLC media player back in the Apple iTunes Store after it was pulled out for unknown reason when it was launched back in 2011. Now the company has released it as a new app with the version number 2.0.1 that has been rewritten from ground-up. This brings new features including WiFi upload that would let you upload media to your iOS device over WiFi, Dropbox integration to browse files and folders to download media for offline playback. Google Chrome for iPhone and iPad updated with Google Apps integration, data compression and more

Google has released an update for the Chrome app for iPhone and iPad to version 28.0.1500.12 that brings Google Apps integration, fullscreen browsing to iPad  and option sign in to other Google apps with a single click. This would let you open Maps, YouTube, Google+, and Google Drive links in the dedicated apps app instead of browser. Google promises that more apps would be available soon. WhatsApp moves to subscription-based model on iOS at $0.99/year


WhatsApp collected for $ 0.99 as a one time payment for the iPhone app. Now the company has changed their  business model that would offer the app free for the first year after that the user would be charged $.99  (~Rs. 55) per year after that, similar to other platforms such as Android and Windows Phone. If you had purchased the app already or downloaded the app when it went free it will remain free for the rest of your life. Rovio, the creators of the popular Angry Birds franchise has published Tiny Thief, a new game for Android, iPhone and iPad. Rovio published Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage last month through Rovio Stars, the new mobile game publishing program. In this game you play as Tiny Thief, an unconventional hero who uses cunning and trickery to out-smart his opponents across six epic medieval adventures. You need to solve the puzzles using interactive gameplay elements. There are over 3500 animations in the game that offers a fun filled gameplay. Twitter has updated the apps for Android, iPhone and iPad apps that brings direct messages (DM) sync across all your devices, so when you read a DM on your a device, it will be marked as read in other devices. Twitter for Android v4.1.2, iPhone and iPad v5.8 update brings improved search results that shows expanded user result with full bio when you search for people on Twitter. It also shows similar accounts when you swipe to the left, and a new in-app indicator in search results will show you when there are new Tweets for your query. The iPhone app now has built-in Tweet composer that appears when you tap to see details.

Purported images and video of the budget iPhone leaks

There were number of leaks about the Apple’s budget iPhone. Now purported high-res images and a video of the phone has surfaced again on a website techdy which got hold of the phone. According to the website the phone would a 4-inch display at a resolution of 1136 x 640 similar to the iPhone 5, instead of aluminium, the budget iPhone would have a plastic or polycarbonate build and would have a shape similar to Apple’s original iPod. Evernote has updated the Skitch app for iPhone and iPad to version 2.6 that brings new features including Adjustable Canvas that lets you add room at the edges of your image, map, or screenshot. If you annotate beyond the edge of your image, the canvas will now automatically expand to give you more space. The shapes have a much smaller minimum size in this version that makes it easier to highlight only the information you want to change or clarify. The version 2.0 update for iPhone and iPad brings new formatting options and the iPad app lets you access rich formatting options easily. The Android app version 15.0 update brings option to record audio notes, Home screen widgets and lots more features. Both the apps now ltes you access sync your notebooks on SharePoint, Office 365 and SkyDrive Pro. Budget iPhone pictures surface, shows off colorful rear shells

Images of the budget iPhone has surfaced online that reveals colorful rear shells in yellow, red and green colors. Images are from the a Chinese forum Weiphone that also coincides with board of the leaked iPhone 5S. Pegatron CEO recently revealed that the budget iPhone would not be very cheap. Last week’s DigiTimes report revealed that the entry-level iPhone might come with plastic chasis and not a glass or a metal one to save the cost.
