Apple reports $13.7 billion profit on $64 billion revenue in FY Q4 2019, iPhone revenue down 9% YoY

Apple has reported quarterly revenue of $64 billion, up 1.74% over last year with a net profit of $13.7 billion, down 2.83% YoY and earnings per diluted share of $3.03, up 4.1% for the financial year Q4 2019 that ended September 28, 2019. During earnings call Tim Cook said that it was Apple’s highest revenue in a September quarter ever, and the company set new Q4 revenue records in the Americas and rest of Asia-Pacific and saw further improvement in revenue trends in Greater China. Apple starts selling iPhone XR assembled in India

Apple launched the iPhone XR in India last year, and after a year, Apple has finally decided to assemble the phone in India. With this, Apple is expanding its portfolio of smartphones under the ‘Made in India’ scheme. As mentioned on the box, the phone is assembled in Chennai by Taipei-based contract manufacturer Foxconn. Apple started assembling iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 models in India by Winstron in Bengaluru, and it assembled the iPhone SE as well, but it is not on sale anymore. Apple iPad Pro with rear 3D ToF camera said to launch in Q1 2020, MacBooks with Scissor keyboard expected in Q2 2020

Apple said to launch AR glasses that relies on iPhone in Q2 2020

Update: October 9, 2019: Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a new research note has said that Apple’s augmented reality headset will enter mass production in fourth quarter of 2019 and launch in Q2 2020.  He added that Apple will partner with third-party brands for the AR headset, with Changying Precision tipped to be the main chassis supplier. This is said to be marketed as an iPhone accessory and primarily take a display role while wirelessly offloading computing, networking, and positioning to the iPhone.
