Popular Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a report that has some interesting plans for Apple in the first half of 2020. The report claims Apple will release several new products including Ultra Wideband tags, high-end wireless headphones, a 4.7-inch iPhone SE successor, refreshed iPad Pro models, and refreshed MacBook Pro and/or MacBook Air models.

In this year’s biggest jury verdict from this year, Apple Inc. and Broadcom Inc. have been ordered by a California Court to pay a collective $1.1 billion in damages for patent infringement. The plaintiff in this case is California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech.) who claimed that Apple broke patent laws by using Broadcom Wi-Fi chips in their devices.
Unicode, which is the international consortium that dictates computing industry standards has released its Emoji 13.0 standard for the year 2020. It includes 117 new emoji such as a smiling face with tear, Polar bear, a pinched finger, including 55 gender and skin-tone variants.

Facebook has reported a good year for 2019 as it released its Q4 2019 earnings report. The total earnings posted for this quarter was $21082 million which amounts to a YoY growth of about 24.64% from Q4 2018. The net income on the other hand, was reported at $7349 million which calculates to an increase of approx. 6.78% YoY.

During a demonstration of Artificial Intelligence demos at its San Francisco office, Google showed a prototype feature that is in development for Google Translate called Live Transcription. The feature, if it finally arrives to the public, will allow users to speak in one language and transcribe it to another language in real time on Google Translate.

Apple has rolled out new software updates to iOS and iPadOS changing the software version from 13.3 to 13.3.1. As the software version indicates, this update is a small incremental update with quite a few bug fixes. Noticeably, there is a security fix that now stops contacts being added without entering passcode and Apple has added a setting to control location data sent via the U1 Chip.
Toreto, a manufacturer of audio equipment, has launched two new magnetic wireless neckband earphones called the Active and the Active Pro. Both wireless earbuds come with Bluetooth 5.0, passive noise cancellation, in built microphone and decent battery.
Google App Maker was officially launched in 2018 when it was taken out of beta as a low-code application development environment. However, it seems like it did not pick up enough users as Google has announced it is shutting down App Maker due to low usage by January 19, 2021.

Google continues to bring updates to its camera with new features like Do Not Disturb and slightly tweaked the menu’s in the settings. But more interestingly, with an APK teardown, future features have been revealed like a 24fps mode and even the codenames for the upcoming Pixel 4A.
In a world where smartphone manufacturers like OnePlus, Nokia, etc. have already pushed out Android 10 software updates to their devices, we still have companies like LG that are extremely slow with theirs. LG have only now announced their roadmap for Android 10 updates in 9 smartphones, with some phones only getting it in Q4 of 2020.

Ever since Vine was shut down back in 2016, the internet has been yearning for some short form video sharing service. Now Vine’s founder, Don Hoffman has announced the launch of a successor to Vine called the Byte App. It is similar to Vine in that it is a platform for shooting or uploading and then sharing 6-second videos on the internet.

About a week ago, news arrived of the European Union (EU) contemplating passing legislature that would force all companies selling gadgets in the EU to have a common charging port.
