LG gram 2026 laptops unveiled ahead of CES 2026

LG Electronics (LG) has unveiled its 2026 LG gram laptop lineup at CES 2026 in the United States. The new range continues LG gram’s focus on ultra-portable notebooks while introducing a newly developed lightweight material, expanded AI capabilities, and broader cross-device connectivity.

LG gram laptop 2026

The 2026 lineup combines portability, durability, AI-assisted productivity, and enhanced security features across multiple form factors.

Aerominum Material Enhances Durability While Maintaining Ultra-Light Weight

The 2026 LG gram lineup adopts Aerominum, a new magnesium-aluminium alloy primarily used in the aerospace industry. The material combines the low weight of magnesium with the strength of aluminium to improve durability without compromising portability.

LG states that scratch resistance has improved by more than 35% compared to previous models. The chassis meets U.S. military-grade durability standards while maintaining the ultra-light design identity of the LG gram series.

Aerominum features an aeroplate structure and a brushed metallic finish, providing a refined exterior without adding bulk. Using LG’s lightweight structural design process, the 16-inch LG gram Pro weighs 1,199g.

Dual AI Capabilities With On-Device and Cloud-Based Processing

Select models in the 2026 LG gram lineup support a dual AI system that combines on-device AI processing with cloud-based AI services. These models support Microsoft Copilot+ PC alongside LG’s gram chat On-Device AI.

The on-device AI runs on EXAONE 3.5, a small-scale large language model (sLLM) developed by LG AI Research. It enables AI features to operate without a network connection, supporting tasks such as document summarisation, search, translation, and contextual responses.

Key on-device AI features include:
  • My Archive, which prioritises searching and summarising files within user-selected folders while understanding query intent and context
  • Time Travel, which retrieves past work history and assists in recovering accidentally deleted data

Copilot+ PC support enables additional AI tools such as real-time video subtitle translation and AI image generation.

Connectivity and Security Improvements

The 2026 LG gram models expand cross-platform connectivity through an upgraded gram Link feature. gram Link now supports Android, iOS, and webOS devices, enabling wireless file sharing, photo transfers, screen mirroring, and display extension.

The expansion to webOS allows users to connect LG TVs, smart monitors, and projectors running webOS 26, including existing models receiving software updates. This enables wireless file sharing, image transfers, and extended display usage for presentations and meetings.

For security, LG introduces Secure Lock via LG ThinQ. The feature allows users to remotely lock, disable, or erase the laptop if it is lost or stolen. Secure Lock can immobilise the system and initialise the operating system to protect stored personal data.

LG gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR): Lightest 17-inch RTX Laptop

The LG gram Pro 17 integrates a 17-inch display into a chassis comparable in size to typical 16-inch laptops.

Key specifications include:

  • 17-inch WQXGA (2560 × 1600) LCD display
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU
  • 8GB GDDR7 graphics memory

LG states that the GPU is designed to support graphics-intensive workloads, content creation, and gaming. The 17Z90UR model will be available exclusively in North America.

LG gram Pro 16 (16Z90U / 16Z95U): Ultra-Portable Dual AI Laptop

The LG gram Pro 16 is positioned as the lightest 16-inch laptop in its class to support both on-device and cloud-based AI.

Key features include:

  • 16-inch WQXGA+ (2880 × 1800) OLED display
  • Intel Core Ultra processors (model: 16Z90U-K)
  • AMD Ryzen AI 400 series processors (model: 16Z95U)

The OLED panel delivers high contrast and sharp visuals for productivity and creative tasks. LG offers CPU options to allow users to choose between Intel platforms for graphics-focused workloads or AMD platforms for power-efficient performance.

Battery Life, Charging, and Reliability

The 16-inch LG gram Pro is equipped with a 77Wh battery, delivering up to 27 hours of video playback based on LG’s internal testing. Fast charging enables more than 9 hours of use with a 30-minute charge.

The laptops have passed seven U.S. military reliability tests covering shock, dust, high temperature, low temperature, vibration, salt fog, and low pressure.

LG will begin rolling out its 2026 LG gram lineup in South Korea starting January 6 through LGE.com, followed by additional sales channels.

The initial lineup includes:
