I was recently in Mumbai and I spotted a Tesla Model Y under a camouflage wrap near the Mumbai airport area. The vehicle bore a temporary Karnataka registration plate KA03TC016/5 meant for testing purposes. Tesla is expected to open its first retail store or experience center in India in Jio World Drive in BKC as early as this week on July 15.

The Tesla_India official account just went live on Twitter/X and got a RT from the main official Tesla account and teased that the company is coming soon to India and posted this image below.
Tesla has been scouting for retail space in Mumbai and has finalized a store in Jio World Drive in Mumbai, where Apple also opened its first ever store in India back in 2023.
Tesla has been hiring for various roles in Mumbai, including store managers, service advisors, and service technicians.
Tesla opened orders for its Model 3 in India and several other countries when it was introduced back in 2016, and I was able to book it for $1000. It has taken the company nearly 9 years to launch in India officially, after receiving necessary approvals for the launch in the country.
Earlier reports said that the Tesla is also planning to open a showroom in Delhi’s Aerocity after Mumbai.
