Samsung confirms Galaxy S22 series will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in India

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S22 series, including the Galaxy S22 Ultra with a built-in S Pen stylus, this week. The company also started pre-bookings for the phone yesterday. Now it has confirmed that the Galaxy S22 series will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in India. It has been several years since we had seen a Samsung flagship powered by a Snapdragon SoC in India.

Both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Exynos 2200 use Samsung’s 4nm EUV process technology, Armv9 architecture and use tri-cluster CPU structure that consists of Arm Cortex-X2 core optimized for peak performance, three Cortex-A710 cores for balanced processing, and four Cortex-A510 cores for efficiency, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has 2.99GHz (Maximum Clock Speed) + 2.4GHz + 1.7GHz arrangement, which is faster compared to Exynos 2200 that uses 2.80GHz (Maximum Clock Speed) + 2.5GHz + 1.8GHz.

The flagship Snapdragon chip uses the new Qualcomm Adreno GPU that promises a 30% boost in graphics rendering capabilities and 25% improvement in power savings compared to the previous generation. The Exynos 2200 uses the new Samsung Xclipse 920 GPU with AMD RDNA 2 architecture, hardware ray tracing technology, and supports variable rate shading (VRS) technology.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered S22 series will be sold in US and UAE as well, but Europe and UK will get the Exynos 2200 version.
