OnePlus India has started teasing the launch of new Nord smartphone on Amazon.in after posting a cryptic teaser on its social channels yesterday which said “something new is coming”. The URL of the image confirms it will be a new Nord phone, but company did not confirm the name officially. However, it could be the OnePlus Nord 2, successor to the OnePlus Nord that was launched last year.
The Nord 2 name showed up in the listing of eligible devices for the Stadia Premiere edition promotion recently, so it could be introduced globally, unlike the first Nord which was launched only in some markets. Since the teaser shows different colours, we can expect the phone come in several colour options or feature a gradient finish.
Based on earlier rumours, OnePlus is said to use MediaTek’s latest flagship Dimensity 1200 6nm SoC, so the Nord 2 could be the first OnePlus phone with a MediaTek SoC. The first Nord was once rumoured to come with MediaTek Dimensity 1000L 5G SoC, but later the company chose Snapdragon 765G.
The ‘Notify Me’ option for the new Nord gives a confirmation that says OnePlus Nord CE 5G, so it could also launch in India alongside the Nord 2 since another image on the Amazon page also “A Little More for You This Summer”.
The new OnePlus Nord launch is expected to be scheduled sometime in early June, and we should know more details in the coming days.
