OnePlus Nord 2 with Dimensity 1200 SoC said to launch in Q2 2021

OnePlus Nord with Snapdragon 765G was introduced back in July last year. This year around the same time the company is said to introduce the Nord 2 smartphone, but instead of Snapdragon SoC, OnePlus is said to move to MediaTek’s latest flagship Dimensity 1200 6nm SoC that supports ultra-fast 168Hz refresh rates in FHD+. Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO and realme were announced as partners, but it looks like OnePlus will also join soon.

Even the first Nord was once rumoured to come with MediaTek Dimensity 1000L 5G SoC, but later the company chose Snapdragon 765G. To remind you, the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 were powered by Snapdragon 690 and Snapdragon 460 SoC, respectively, so the Nord 2 could be the first OnePlus phone with a MediaTek SoC.

The OnePlus Nord 2 could retain the similar price or the Nord when it launches later this year. There are also rumours of OnePlus 9R launching alongside the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro. Some rumours say that it will be powered by Snapdragon 870 which might replace the 8T, but other rumours say it will be a mid-range phone with Snapdragon 690 5G. We will have to wait to find out more details.
