Redmi 9 with Dot Drop display, dual rear cameras launching in India on August 27


Update: August 20, 2020: Redmi today confirmed that it will launch the Redmi 9 smartphone in India on August 27th, and the phone will be sold on Amazon.in, in addition to mi.com. The teaser says more RAM more fun that hints that it might come with 4GB of RAM.

It should come with HD+ Dot Drop display, MediaTek Helio G35 with Hyper Engine Game technology, and a large 5000mAh battery, run MIUI 12 out of the box similar to the Redmi 9C, but this will come with dual rear cameras instead of triple cameras.

Earlier: Xiaomi’s Redmi brand recently launched the global Redmi 9 smartphone as Redmi 9 Prime with FHD+ display, Helio G80 SoC, and more in India. Following that, now the company has started teasing the launch of its next smartphone in India.

4th August, 2020: #Redmi9Prime, XX XXX, 2020: #Redmi _ ?. Can you guess what’s next? RT & gear up for 9️!”. Also, the text towards the end of the teaser video reads “Where’s the 9?”. Going by the teasers, the next Redmi smartphone in India should be the Redmi 9.

The company announced the Redmi 9C and Redmi 9A smartphones a couple of months back, and the Redmi 9C is expected to be launched as Redmi 9 in India. To recall, the Redmi 9C sports a 6.53-inch LCD Dot Drop notch screen and is powered by the Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G35 processor with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. As for the cameras, the Redmi 9C comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor and the front-facing camera is a 5MP shooter. It also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

While the launch date is not announced yet, it shouldn’t be far away, and we should know more information in the coming days.
