Redmi K20 will feature AMOLED screen, optical in-display fingerprint scanner and 4000mAh battery [Update: Official image]


Update: The company has shared the first image of the back of the phone in Red color that shows triple rear cameras and an attractive design.

Earlier: After confirming the launch date earlier this week, Xiaomi’s Redmi brand has confirmed that the Redmi K20 will have an AMOLED screen and seventh-generation optical in-display fingerprint sensor with 3P lens that is equivalent to a 7.2μm macro camera, which is 100% higher than the previous generation’s photosensitive area, and the finger area is also increased by 15%, which can capture the fingerprint optical signal better.

Upgraded hardware, combined with the software DSP algorithm, will increase the unlock speed of the Redmi K20 by 10%, and the success rate is increased by 30% under low temperature, dry fingers, bright light and more.

Redmi President Lu Weibing said that the in-screen fingerprint scanner is now a standard, and the overall performance is now improved, and the front fingerprint sensor is convenient to operate and offers better experience. Based on the feedback from users that the in-screen fingerprint is not the best at night since the brightness of the fingerprint area is more. Based on this feedback, engineers that made optimizations that includes

  • Fingerprint unlock area has been changed from green to cyan
  • The phone will dynamically adjust the brightness of the fingerprint area at night

Yesterday the company confirmed 4000mAh large battery with AI intelligent power saving that can manage the power consumption in applications and games. When you sleep, the phone will automatically enter sleep mode to optimize the battery life.

It already confirmed Snapdragon 855, 48-megapixel rear camera and a pop-up front camera. The company already posted a teaser with a pop-up front camera that has been tested 300,000 times and a no-notch display.

Based on earlier rumors, the phone is said to pack a 6.39-inch FHD+ display, up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, MIUI 10 based on Android Pie, 48MP primary rear camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, 8MP telephoto lens, 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, 20MP pop-up front camera and support for 27W fast charging.
