Xiaomi Mi 9: 90.7% screen-to-body ratio, optical in-display fingerprint sensor, 12GB RAM Transparent Edition and more


After confirming new holographic technology, Snapdragon 855 SoC and camera specifications of the Mi 9 smartphone, ahead of February 20 announcement, Xiaomi has confirmed that the display specifcations, in-display fingerprint technology as well as  Transparent Edition.

Xiaomi Mi 9 will features Full HD+ Samsung AMOLED screen with 90.7% screen to body ratio, 103.8% NTSC color gamut, 600 nits brightness, >60000:1 contrast ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass  6protection. It will also feature in-screen ambient light sensor.

It has improved screen dimming that uses gamma optimization technology to offer more details even when the screen is dimmed and the Reading mode 2.0 inscreases the color temparature levels from 32 to 256 and offers smoother brightness transition. The high brightness mode boosts brightness up to 39% compared to standard mode and the Sunlight mode 2.0 improves contrast and optimizes color display when you are outdoors.

The Mi 9 features optical in-display fingerprint sensor that is equivalent to a 5μm macro camera, which is several times higher than the traditional capacitive fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi has also confirmed a Transparent Edition with 12GB of RAM. The gradient back glass is just 0.4 mm.

The phone has Laser Autofocus, which is seen clearly in the transparent edition. It also comes with Phase Detection AF (PDAF) and CAF (Contrast Detection Autofocus) and uses closed-loop Voice Coil Motor (VCM) for improved auto-focusing.

The Mi 9 also comes with Game Turbo with real-time CPU/GPU/FPS monitoring. It supports switching network with a single tap and keeps the game running while the display is off. It also promises speaker with deep bass and has Smart PA that uses DSM dynamic control to amplify sound by 100%.
