Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Unboxing and First Impressions


Xiaomi just launched the most expected Redmi Note 5 smartphone at an event in India along with the Redmi Note 5 Pro. It is the global variant of the Redmi 5 Plus that was introduced in China recently. Check out the unboxing and the first impressions of the phone.

The Redmi Note 5 has a 5.99-inch Full HD+ 2160 × 1080 pixels 2.5D curved glass display, compared to the 5.5-inch 1080p screen on the Redmi Note 4 and also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, but it is powered by the same Snapdragon 625 SoC with 3GB or 4GB RAM. It runs on Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with MIUI 9.2 on top. The phone should get the Oreo update in future, but no details about the exact date of availability. It has a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and selfie flash.

It has a 12-megapixel camera on the back with  f/2.2 aperture and large 1.25μm pixel size, compared to 1.12μm pixel on the Redmi Note 4. There is dual-tone LED flash below the camera and a fingerprint sensor is present below it.

It has hybrid dual SIM slot that accepts two nano SIMs or a nano SIM and a microSD, in addition to 32GB or 64GB storage. It also has an infrared sensor on the top for Remote control.

The phone has a metal finish on most part of the back with plastic finish on the top and the bottom parts where the antennas are present. The build quality is good. At the launch with dual pyrolytic graphite sheets that will help to diffuse and radiate heat quickly. It packs a 4000mAh built-in battery, but it doesn’t have support for fast charging.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 also comes in Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue colors, is priced at Rs. 9999 for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version and the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version costs Rs. 11,999. It will be available exclusively from Flipkart starting from February 22nd.
