3G launched in India atlast but only on MTNL Delhi

3G has finally come to India .. Its always been a distant dream for India to get 3G Network speeds..

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh launched the 3G services of MTNL Delhi under the banner of “Jaadu” or “Magic”

A. RajaCommunications and IT Minister  was also present at the launch event and made a video call from his 3G phone and demonstrated the capabilities of 3G services.

Motorola is setting up the network for the services.

Mumbai will get the services in 2 months from now.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will launch them in Chennai next month.

The big question now is that how reasonable the tarrifs are going to be ..

Will the 3g Tarrifs be affordable ?

There is no word out on the price structure or plan details

How many users have 3G capable handsets ?

I personally have a phone with support for 3G networks but most low cost handsets do not support it ..

But 3G is a Value Added Service ,  so users will have to pay a premium price for the service and also have a compatible handset which costs a minimum of Rs.7500 -10000

Are you willing to spend some extra bucks for this new service ?
