Xiaomi has maintained the top spot in India wearable market by grabbing 27.1% share in Q1 2016, according to a latest report from International Data Corporation (IDC). The company surpasses Samsung and Fitbit to become the number one vendor thanks to its flagship affordable Mi Band fitness tracker.
Xiaomi has been rumored to launch own smartwatch since last year. Now, it looks like the Chinese smartphone maker might actually introduce one soon.

Xiaomi introduced Mi Max, it’s first phablet with a huge 6.44-inch screen last month. We managed to get one from iBuygou and recently did a live unboxing of the smartphone, check out the unboxing video below.
Xiaomi Redmi 3 was announced in January earlier this year and the Redmi 3 Pro with 3GB RAM was introduced in March. Now three variants of the Redmi 3 phone with 32GB storage have been certified by TENAA, few days after a similar variant of the phone with 16GB storage in golden color got certified by TENAA. These have almost similar specifications as the Redmi 3 and also includes a fingerprint sensor on the back. Xiaomi just announced Mi Band 2, the company’s latest fitness and sleep tracker in the Mi Band lineup. The main change compared to the Mi Band and the Mi Band Pulse is the 0.42-inch OLED display that shows time, steps and also heart rate when you tap the button below the display. Xiaomi had applied to Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) for opening single brand retail stores in India in March. Now the Chinese smartphone maker has withdrawn its request seeking complete exemption from the mandatory 30 per cent local sourcing norms for single brand retail stores, according to latest PTI report.

Microsoft and Xiaomi have entered into a cross-license and patent transfer agreement. As a part of the deal, Xiaomi is acquiring 1,500 patents from Microsoft and will pre-load Microsoft Office and Skype apps on its Android smartphones and tablets. This is a part of Microsoft’s revised mobile strategy which focuses on getting its software and services onto iOS and Android devices instead of focusing on Windows devices alone. Xiaomi launched the Mi 5 smartphone in India for Rs. 24,999 back in March, which went on sale through flash sale starting from April 6th. Today the company has announced that the phone will be available through open sale starting from June 1st starting from 10AM through the Mi India website. Both the variants of the Redmi Note 3 will also go on open sale in India through Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal at the same time. Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the company will announce the Mi Band 2 on June 7. Jun had revealed earlier this month that the Mi Band 2 was delayed by a month and will be launched in June.

Xiaomi today introduced Mi Drone, it’s first UAV in an online event in China. It is made by Mi Ecosystem’s company Flymi and the CEO of the company is Cai Wei who has 7 years of experience dealing with drone. The Drone has a compact lightweight body since it is made of polycarbonate and carbon fiber. The high-end version has a 12-megapixel Sony Exmor R BSI sensor, f/2.8 aperture, 6P lenses, 94-degree field of view, three-axis image stabilization with the gimbal and has 4K video recording at 30 fps and RAW image capture and has transmission distance of up to 2 kilometers. The other version has a 16.35MP CMOS sensor with f /2.6 aperture, 104-degree field of view, up to 1080p video recording at 60fps and has transmission distance of up to 1 kilometer. Xiaomi has scheduled an online UAV launch event on May 25th where it will release it’s first Drone. The drone is expected to have a camera capable of recording videos at 4K resolution at 30 fps. It is not clear if the Drone would have advanced features present in high-end drones from DJI or other makers.

Xiaomi is also one of Google’s first Android partners for making Daydream-ready devices, Google VP Clay Bavor announced at the Google I/O conference keynote few hours back. It also comes bundled with Bluetooth voice remote that supports voice search and commands and has optional Mi Game Controller that also connects to other Android devices other than the Mi Box.
