Samsung Camera app hints at a Galaxy phone with 108MP camera, 20:9 display

Samsung introduced the 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX image sensor back in August this year and it powered the recently launched Xiaomi’s Mi CC9 Pro / Mi Note 10. Samsung is yet to launch a smartphone with 108MP camera, but recently, the code found in Samsung Camera app hints at a future Galaxy smartphone with a 20:9 display and 108MP camera

Samsung W20 5G foldable phone to be announced on November 19

Update: Samsung has confirmed that the new W20 5G will be introduced on November 19th in China. The teaser shows a similar design as the Galaxy Fold, but the Galaxy Fold is already on sale in China. We will have to wait for the launch to find out what Samsung has to offer.

Samsung’s Q3 2019 profits down 55.7% YoY, mobile profits up 31.5% YoY due to strong Galaxy Note 10 and A series sales

Samsung has reported its earnings for Q3 2019 that ended September 30, 2019, in which the company has made operating profit of 7.78 trillion won, down 55.7% YoY. This due to continued weakness in the memory chip market, even with stronger smartphone sales and improved utilization in mobile OLED screens, said Samsung. It reported revenue of 62 trillion won, down 5.2% YoY from 65.46 trillion won last year. Samsung Galaxy XCover FieldPro rugged phone with MIL-STD-810G certification, Push-to-Talk connectivity announced

Samsung’s lineup of smartphones also include rugged phones (XCover lineup) alongside the Galaxys and Notes and the company launched the Galaxy Tab Active 2 rugged tablet earlier this year. Expanding its lineup, Samsung has now announced Galaxy XCover FieldPro rugged smartphone with Samsung Knox security platform, Push-t0-Talk connectivity, and more.

Samsung Galaxy Fold successor with new clamshell foldable design teased

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Fold at its Unpacked event back in February, and it started rolling out globally from last month. At the Samsung Developer Conference 2019 (SDC19) the company teased a new clam shell folding-screen form factor that it’s working on. This folds vertically to form a small and square form factor when closed. It also shows a punch-hole camera. Samsung Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion with QLED Display, 10th Gen Intel Core Processors, Fingerprint scanner, Wireless PowerShare announced

Samsung has introduced Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion at the Samsung Developer Conference 2019 (SDC19). These come in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch versions with a QLED Display, 600-nit brightness and are powered by 10th Gen Intel Core Processors with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD. These feature Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) and Thunderbolt 3, while the Ion also has an HDMI port. Samsung rolls out update for Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series to fix fingerprint security flaw

Last week, it was discovered that Galaxy S10 series and the Note 10 series had a fatal security flaw where users who installed a silicon cover for the phone could unlock their phone using any fingerprint, registered or not. Samsung acknowledged the issue and said they will soon release the fix for it. Less than a week later, the fix has been rolled out to the affected devices through a software update.

Samsung starts mass production of first 12GB LPDDR4X + eUFS 3.0 multichip package

Samsung at the annual Samsung Tech Day in San Jose, California announced that is has started mass production of first 12-gigabyte (GB) low-power double data rate 4X (LPDDR4X) UFS-based multichip package (uMCP). Samsung introduced 12GB LPDDRX chips with 1y-nanometer process technology back in March that combines six 16-gigabit (Gb) LPDDR4X chips (16Gb=2GB) based on the second-generation 10nm-class (1y-nm) process into a single package. Samsung Exynos 990 7nm EUV SoC with support for up to 120Hz refresh-rate displays, LPDDR5, up to 108MP camera and 5G Exynos Modem 5123 announced

Samsung has announced its latest Exynos 990 SoC, soon after the Exynos 980 that was introduced last month. This uses 7nm EUV (extreme ultra violet) lithography processing technology for better power efficiency, same as Exynos 9825 SoC that powers the Galaxy Note10. This has tri-cluster CPU structure that consists of two powerful custom cores, two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. It has dual-core neural processing unit (NPU) and improved digital signal processor (DSP) that can perform over ten-trillion operations (TOPs) per second.
