Over the years, Google Lens has become much better at using their AI to recognise text and images from a smartphone camera and provide contextual information. Today they released a new update that brings three new features; the ability to quickly copy text to a computer, text translation and pronunciation, and the ability to quickly look up concepts.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, most launch events have been shifted to online and on similar lines, Google also cancelled its annual I/O event recently. Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant has announced that the Beta launch show of Android 11 will take place online on YouTube and has released a teaser video of the same.

Google’s parent company, Alphabet had a strong beginning in revenue for the first quarter of 2020 but later saw a dip towards the end. In an earnings call, Alphabet released its Q1 2020 results, reporting a total revenue of $41.16 billion, that calculates to a YoY growth of 13%. The company saw a dip in its advertising revenue and saw a huge rise in their products like Search, YouTube, and Cloud.

Update: Google has finally started rolling out the Pixel Buds through Google Store and retailers including AT&T, Best Buy, Target (coming early May), T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon and Walmart in the US at US$179 (Rs. 13,640 approx.), but it is available only in Clearly White. Other colours—Almost Black, Quite Mint and Oh So Orange will be available in the coming months, said Google. Google also said that Pixel Buds will roll out to more countries in the coming months. During its 2019 October hardware launch event, Google announced their first truly wireless earphones called the Pixel Buds. However, they also announced that the product would only go on sale next year, in the summer of 2020. It looks like we are finally nearing the launch of the Pixel Buds as the Pixel Buds app is available for download for all in the Google Play Store.

The Google Assistant has been steadily improving voice recognition capabilities over the years. They introduced voice training when setting up the Google Assistant and now they have improved the training by including longer phrases to be said by the user. G Suite users are getting a bunch of handy little updates to Meet to enhance their experience. Users can now share high-quality video with audio content by present a tab from within the Chrome browser. Along with this, Google is adding the ability to view up to 16 people at once in the tile view format that can help improve the experience in classrooms, large group meetings, etc.
Epic Games, the developers of the popular Battle Royale game, Fortnite has finally relented and decided to make the game available for download via the Google Play Store. Epic Games had previously refused to release the game via the Play Store due to the high 30% cut that Google keeps for all in-app purchases.
