Xiaomi has finally confirmed the launch of its Redmi 2 smartphone in India tomorrow, March 12th. The Redmi 2 is the successor of Redmi 1S that was launched in India for Rs. 5,999. It has the same 4.7-inch HD screen present in Redmi and Redmi 1S, but this is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with MIUI 6 on top. A new budget smartphone from Xiaomi has been certified in Tenna in China. This would probably come in the Redmi (Red Rice) category. It has a 5.5-inch HD display, powered by a 1.7 GHz octa-core processor (probably MediaTek) and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with . It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It is 9.45mm thick and weighs 192 grams.
