Android Wear notifications demoed by a Google Developer

We know one thing for sure – they are coming. Yeah! Smartwatches are coming as Apple seems to be prepping an iWatch while Google has already released a platform – Android Wear and its SDK for developers. Wearables are a huge category, but right now, in 2014, the concentration seems to be on smart watches. LG and Motorola were among the first companies to hop in with Google in the smart wearables market.

Pocket shows off how you can save articles from your smartwatch

Pocket, formerly known as “Read it Later”, is one of very common apps that I use to save articles from the web or anywhere. I have been an early adopter and have used the service right from the start and just love it. It basically allows you to save anything that you might want to read later. You can access your saved articles on the web, on various smartphones, tablets and across desktop platforms.

LG’s G Watch will be Google’s first “Nexus” Smartwatch, powered by Android Wear

Close on the heels of the announcements from Google for Android Wear and Motorola’s Moto 360 Smartwatch, LG has announced that it will actually be making the first smartwatch powered by the new wearables platform. The LG G watch, as it is called, will be the first smartwatch to release to the market, powered by Google’s Android Wear platform. LG and Google have apparently worked on this device together, right from design, just like a Nexus product. The details of the LG G watch have not been revealed yet, but the availability is set to the second quarter of 2014.

Android extends to wearables with Android Wear

Google just announced Android Wear, its first Android platform for wearables, as it promised earlier this month. This would let manufactures create smartwatches based on Android wear. This offers useful information to users when they need it, and respond to spoken questions and commands, just like Google Now.
