Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone coming soon

Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone

Joe Belfiore, Vice President of Windows Phone has just announced Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone, at the Microsoft’s press & analyst event at the MWC 2014. The app is expected to go live in a few weeks. Even though Facebook would acquire WhatsApp, it said both the Facebook Messenger and the WhatsApp would not merge.

Even though the Facebook Messenger app for Windows Phone has Chat option, a separate app would be more useful for users who don’t want Facebook, just like other platforms such as Android and iOS. Both the Facebook Messenger apps for Android and iOS got an updated with new design and new stickers. Hope the Windows Phone app would also have these features.

We now over 240,000 apps, with an average of 500 apps added each day, said Microsoft. The platform got Instagram, Vine, Waze and Mint apps recently, and the Facebook Messenger will be available in the coming weeks, it said. We don’t have any specific launch date for the app yet. We will let you know if we get more info regarding the app.
