Nokia Launches the N96 and the N78

The Mobile World Congress has started and its raining mobiles there. Sony Ericsson launched the XPERIA, their new G Series and one Walkman Clamshell with beefed up memory to compete with the N81 and N82. Sometime back the pictures of N96 leaked on the Internet and then the N96 specs came out on the Nokia site in Germany.N96_02.jpg Everybody speculated that Nokia will be launching this high-end N Series monster at the Mobile World Congress, but Nokia was tight lipped about this and then came the moment of truth today. Nokia has finally launched the N96 at the MWC 2008, which was already anticipated. I don’t want to talk much about the specs, as they are already leaked but there are some features in this phone, which definitely deserve a mention.

The N96 has the form factor of the N95, dual slider, but is pretty smooth at edges and looks good. I found it somewhat like the PSP. Anyways, the N96 has dedicated gaming keys so that you can enjoy your N Gage games, it has a 5 meg clicker with auto-focus and Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash (good for clicking pics and video recording in low light).

This Symbian S60 3rd Edition phone with Feature Pack 2 has a TV receiver also, cool, justifies its large screen. When it comes to connectivity N96 boasts of Wife, HSDPA, dual band WCDMA, Quad Band GSM, built in GPS with Nokia Maps application 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0. And the best part is the Phone has 32 GB of memory – 16 GB Flash and supports microSD card upto 16GB..whoa….kind of a Personal Media Player.

The other multimedia sibling of N96 that Nokia launched today is the N78. This phone has a 3.2 meg clicker with Carl Zeiss optics, built-in GPS, geotagger for pics. Like N96 it also has the Nokia Maps Application and connectivity options like quad band GSM, UMTS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0. No details are available on the microSD memory support.
N96 and N78 together, will definitely shoot up the TRP ratings of Nokia’s Next Episode in Entertainment.
