Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 7.8 update starts rolling out


Nokia has started rolling out the Windows Phone 7.8 devices for Lumia smartphones running on Windows Phone 7.5, such as Nokia Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900 as they promised. Nokia released the Lumia 505 with Windows Phone 7.8 last month for Mexico and also started shipping the Lumia 510 with WP 7.8.

The Windows Phone 7.8 update for the Nokia Lumia devices brings

  • Completely refreshed start screen with the ability to re-size your tiles
  • Daily background image from Bing, improved pocket and child lock screen security.
  • Internet sharing, Bluetooth sharing, imaging enhancements like Camera Extras
  • Apps such asContact Share, Play To and Nokia City Lens
  • Support for new languages

This update would be gradually rolled out over the course of next month (February) globally. You will get a notification about the update on your phone (Settings > Phone Update > Notify me when new updates are found), and can download the update via Microsoft Zune software for PC or Windows Phone app for Mac.
