Samsung’s eighth-generation foldable lineup—comprising the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8—has recorded significant initial commercial traction in India, securing over 271,000 pre-orders within 72 hours of its July 22 launch.
The figures reflect a marked acceleration in consumer adoption compared to the previous generation. Last year, Samsung India took 15 days to reach a comparable pre-order volume for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 series.
Expanding Beyond Metropolitan Markets
A notable demographic shift in demand accompanied the headline pre-order figures. According to data provided by Samsung, 45% of total pre-orders originated from Tier 2 cities and smaller regional centers, indicating that interest in premium foldable form factors is broadening beyond traditional metropolitan hubs.
Given the early momentum, Samsung executives expressed confidence that pre-order volumes for the 8th-generation foldables could match those of the flagship Galaxy S26 series released earlier this year.
Pricing and Availability
The latest foldable portfolio spans multiple price tiers within the ultra-premium segment:
- Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: Starts at ₹199,999
- Galaxy Z Fold8: Starts at ₹179,999
- Galaxy Z Flip8: Starts at ₹124,999
To lower the barrier to entry, Samsung introduced financial schemes alongside the launch, including an industry-first 30-month, zero-down-payment, no-cost EMI option across all models. The phones go on sale on August 8th.
