vivo India has launched the fourth edition of its flagship education program, the vivo Ignite: Technology and Innovation Initiative. Open to students from grades 8 through 12 across India, the nationwide program aims to encourage youth to develop technology-driven solutions for real-world challenges. The initiative aligns its objectives with the broader Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Application and Project Details
Participants can submit entries either individually or in groups of up to three members. Projects will be evaluated under the Prototype category, which encompasses a variety of themes, including:
- Community Development Innovations
- Soft-Tech Innovations
- Technology
- Agriculture & Climate Change
Applications are currently open via the official website (vivoignite.com) from April 21 to June 30.
New Additions for the 4th Edition
Building on previous iterations, vivo India is scaling the program this year by introducing three key updates:
- Special Weightage to Aspirational Districts: The program has added a dedicated focus on students from government schools and aspirational districts to ensure participation is accessible regardless of region or school type.
- The Achiever 30: A newly introduced cohort stage bridging the Top 200 and Top 10. These 30 participants will receive mentorship from domain experts before virtually presenting their prototypes to an expert panel.
- Teacher Innovation Grant: To acknowledge the role of educators in STEM, a grant of INR 50,000 will be awarded to teachers who actively promote STEM education in their classrooms or whose students reach the Top 10 finals.
Program Structure and Timeline
The competition is structured across seven stages, culminating in a National Finale scheduled for October 11 in New Delhi. The top 10 finalists will present their prototypes to a jury and compete for a share of educational scholarships and rewards from a total pool of INR 40 Lakhs.
